Just came across this mini helghast figure. Wouldn't mind getting a couple of those. Any ideas of how much it would cost? http://www.killzone.com/en_GB/blog/news/2014-12-12_print-your-own-3d-helghast-trooper.html
I'm buying the parts for a reprap 3d printer in few weeks, i'll run a test on them and see what it ends up costing in electric+material once I get the machine built
They cute but the print quality is horrible. I guess you can't expect much for a 3D part that retails for $5 but it would be nice if they made a
The model is scalable, so it's up to you how much you want to spend. If you have someone with a high resolution printer make it, it would probably cost $30 to print a large nenderoid size one.
A bit late to the party, but it looks like it wouldn't be too difficult to print, using say a service like the community based 3dhubs.com Keep in mind, places like Shapeways use a sintered printing method versus the common RepRap/consumer fused filament model, the results being a cleaner detail in the sintered model, but cheaper on filament printers. With a 0.1 layer height, 15% infill and a 70mm/s average speed, it would take about 5 hours to print. Using a 0.3mm layer height, cuts that time down to about 2 hours, but the details will suffer. Price wise, it shouldn't cost more than 30-40 bucks to have that printed anywheres.
I just got a Flashforge Dreamer last week. After it's finished printing out the Fifth Element stones I'll toss the trooper on there and see how he'll come out. I sliced at 0.15/25%, should take me about 4 hours to print. I'll post pictures when it's completed! (maybe a few in-progress)
that looks like a nice printer for sure Josiahgould. I'm just going to get a Reprap Prusa i3 due to costs, but right now those funds are tied up with with another project I'm helping with.
Looking forward to see this. I would really love to get one of these 3d printed on the gray color (best to show the details), even if it's 80mm tall. Knowing the cost would be great, as the Dollar vs Real comparison really skyrocket the last couple of weeks.
If I charge the rate I set for friends, it's less than $20 for the figure when you add in the time cost. Materials wise it's less than a quarter for the PLA I use. It's on the printer now in fact... So far this week, these are some of my better prints.
That's reasonable. The shipping cost would probably be higher than that. Anyway, curious to see the finished printed figure. =]
No updates. But i still want to get one of these if it doesn't end up being too expensive (including shipping in the final cost).
