Of course, but if in the course of telling your story you're about to out a closetted skinhead, that's pretty un-cool.- So that's the reason to change the details. Not just the names, but other characteristics as well. Like hair color, or age, or profession... Things that are relevant for the identification of a person but irrelevant to the story.
Although this thread was created over a year ago. This book is now ACTUALLY close to completion. I thought I'd lost it all in a hard drive crash at the beginning of last year but I was digging around in an old uploading it account and found a copy.
LMK when this will be able for preorder or s/t from waterstones or even better, a signed copy (incase you ever get big in the future and I can make Arab Money $$$ (Just kidding ofc))
I thought about the same thing when my first real CD was released and I was working in audio/video/games etc. shop. Though I didn't do that 'cause it's a small closed russian town with shit people anywhere which would buy only very popular and very shitty "music". You can try to ask the owners of small book shops about putting your book in their stores for 50/50% profit for both of you. Of course if the book doesn't break the law, as you understand they don't want any problems.
