You know, before coming to the board, I used to think I had some rarities in my collection, but the majority of the rest here has me feeling down. I was looking though some of my best stuff, and in your opinion, are these pretty good relics for a gaming veteran? 1. PAL Megaman Wily Wars complete (got it 25 bucks ebay) 2. Mountain Dew Xbox complete (got it 300 bucks ebay) 3. Tengen Tetris Nintendo (got it 3.99 gamestop) 4. Mortal Kombat II PS1 Japanese no spine card(got it 70 bucks markinjapan.com) 5. Megaman Battle and Chase PAL complete (got it 25 bucks ebay) 6. bootleg Earthbound Zero and Super Mario Lost Levels carts (US NES formats) (30 bucks each ebay) 7. bootleg Rockman 6-in-1 famicom cart (got it 15 bucks ebay) 8. Famicom Disk system w/ 40 games (all original yellow disks, not bootleg, including all 6 rare machine writer only titles) over 200 bucks (ebay and several sites) 9. All 4 Megaman Anniversary Collection Bobbleheads (Classic, X, Legends, EXE) (from GameCrazy and ebay) valued at 300+ bucks 10. MGS: TTS Special Silver Cover edition (only with JPN bundle) (50 bucks yahoo japan) so what do you think, pretty decent, or a long way to go
Mountain Dew XBOX Earthbound Zero & SM Lost Levels bootlegs Bootleg Rockman FDS with 40 games All 4 Megaman Anniversary Collection Bobbleheads Items 10 - 12 I would consider rare if you don't live in Japan. Very nice!
If you like them, then yes they are great relics for a gaming veteran. If you don't then no. I don't think rare should come into it in that context. That aside, nice items. Whilst they won't win any awards for being supremely rare there's some nice stuff you list, that many gamers would love in their collection
wheelaa seems to have stolen the words from my mind directly. It's cool if you like them, but buying stuff just for rarity denies the whole point of game-collecting. But I'd say most of your stuff is quite hard to come by, if not all of it, especially considering they're import. It's a whole bunch of really cool stuff, dude, congrats. I'm rather interesting in learning more about item number 7. What games does it contain? How does the menu work? What "artwork" does it have? I'd love to see pics of all this, too.
actually its just rockman 6-1 on a cart, select game from menu, few mapper errors here or there, but nothing too serious, still wish someone could dump it for the hell of it
I think you've got an excellent little collection of rarities there! Tengen Tetris doesn't fetch the insane prices it once did, but it's still rare enough to be a cool collector's item (and heck, you got it for $3.99!) The Earthbound Zero and Super Mario Bros. 2, while pirate carts, are still games that we never got over here, and are cool in that you're able to play these unreleased gems on the original hardware. And the Famicom Disk System - well, that's just an awesome collectable no matter HOW many titles you have. Overall, I think it's an awesome collection, with wheelaa and XerdoPwerko making the best point: the greatest value of those items is the value they hold in your mind. Even though most of them would command a nice real-life price, too.
