Wow, Maxis is actually listening to its fans! Yeah, we all knew Spore was going to be 10 billion expansions. But this one actually looks like its worth it. At least for Spore fans who always thought Space mode could have been a lot deeper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGTyFmHFitE By the way, I remember speculating on them making something like this a little while back.
People are fans of some of their games...maybe I should have named this thread something else. I was kinda excited when I made this thread yesterday, its a Spore expansion that actually looks like it could add actual gameplay depth into Spore, rather than depth in just the creators. I've watched tons of videos on it, making your own missions with custom made creatures? This thing could be huge. The cool thing is, I bet there will be some really cool looking missions and levels made with this, because some people have way too much time on their hands. I remember making a prediction for their first expansion to make it more like "Star Wars" in one of the Spore threads, its like Maxis read my mind. Actually, I should have named this thread "Maxis is actually listening to its fans!" instead of EA.
They did a pretty good job of listening when it came to Warhammer On-line. They did extensive testing on it and even had delays in order to fix some of the things the community didn't like. It would be nice if they started doing this on a regular basis, then maybe they would be able to rely on well done products instead of expansions and exclusive deals.
Is everything she described contained in one expansion pack or is each new feature a seperate expansion? If it's all contained in one expansion pack, then this is one of the few expansion packs that actually seems worth it. Otherwise, screw buying like 30 expansions.
I'm pretty sure its all in one pack. It will probably be $50 though, because EA knows people will want it. I was thinking about this thing earlier, I still have a blast using the editors, using this to make my own missions with my own creatures and stuff would be like a dream for me. Maybe more like...a dream visualizer? lol. EDIT: Oh, and in some of the screens, it seems like they have tightened up the graphics on land areas in this expansion, it still looks like shit to enthusiasts and the like, but I still think it looks decent...I saw this one mission and was impressed at the level of detail and action going on, at least in Spore anyway.
Gamestop is listing the price as 29.99. Knowing EA they will package the 2 together a few months after release and call it Spore Gold so they can get the hardcore people to buy that version so they can have a complete collection
Relic has done that, too. There are Gold and Platinum editions of DoW. The complete collection of the DoW games I think is really damn rare. I used to be an avid collector but now I just play my games. I have probably 60+ unplayed JRPGs...
For anyone interested, this might tide you over until its released. For some reason, the graphics look like theyve been upped a lot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kwN86nKy5-k&feature=response_from_watch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxxya97ep0A I might be sounding like a fanboy, but I honestly can't wait for this. I mean, its not a small stupid expansion this time around either, it actually looks fun.
This trailer gets mega cheesy during some parts, but it does look like a decent expansion, and it looks like its making Spore into more of a creature making toy and an actual game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gaX5gRU_wxc&eurl=http%3A%2F%2Fsporedum.net%2F2009%2F03%2F21%2Fign-galactic-adventures-heroes%2F&feature=player_embedded EDIT: Oh yeah, and you can create buildings that your creatures can walk into, jump on buildings, control squads of creatures and vehicles, take control of vehicles themselves, etc. It sounds like Star Wars Battlefront but with Spore creatures and stuff.
I'm actually looking forward to this years "Need for speed" http://www.needforspeed.com/ Let's hope they don't fuck up another developer :-(
I thought that recent Simpsons videogame was great fan service. It was generic but a great game for simpsons fans.
Mirror's Edge, Rock Band 1 & 2, Burnout, Dead Space, Skate 1 & 2 have all been good EA games in recent years...yeah, they release a lot of crap too, but I think EA might get bashed too much these days, there are far worse shovelware crap factories around today.
Yeah, like Nippon Ichi Studios. I've heard someone here call them the Japanese equivalent of EA though. I posted this on another forum filled with weeaboos and they all got butthurt.
