Personally, I haven't played World of Warcraft, nothing against it, just haven't had time... but did anyone else hear about the "funeral" that got slaughtered? http://www.sploid.com/news/2006/04/slaughter_at_th.php the forum it started on: http://forums.illidrama.com/showthread.php?t=1826 and the video of the attack: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7667194685876573666&q=World+of+warcraft I know it's like a month old, but I randomly ran across it today. Didn't see it posted here, sorry if it's been discussed or if no one cares.
Yeh I saw the video. Laughed my ass off. But I'm sure the person who passed away would have wanted his character to die like that, in battle.
Its been discussed here a few weeks or so ago. I think the party responsible got blacklisted on lots of servers for what they did. I still think holding a digital funeral in enemy territory is just asking for trouble, though.
Sorry to repost, I originally did a search for warcraft and it didn't come up, but looking manually I see it now. oh well.
There was a funeral on my server a few weeks ago too, but it was in The Barrens so people were unable to grief it like in the above video. It didnt stop people from trying though..
i ve never played that game, but..i don't get it. it's a game, it's supposed to be fun, someone dies..well.. it's sad, but an in-game funeral? that's abuse of process!
Ya, well.. WoW is a pretty tough place for burials... And its the place to honour the digital character only... for the real one the virtual clique still has the forum, IMs, Email etc. - or can just pay respect and visit her grave! Thats why.. I watched the video - twice.. bloody awesome! HAHA Thats how you are supposed to die in WoW - pussies
That was absofrikkinloutely beautiful! /misses his WoW account //greifed more than he probably should have
It wasn't really on "enemy" territory. it was held in a PvP server, which allowed them to openly attack each other. I doubt they got blacklisted. If they did, what a bunch of pussies, its only a game. If they wanted to pay respects than why didn't they drive to the real person's funeral? Or write a letter of grievance to the family of their deceased loved one?
I tip my hat to whomever thought up and planned that attack. A truly brilliant strategy which was flawlessly executed.
i fucking laughed my ass off!! that was so great! did i get this right? a person in real life died and his WoW character got buried on a pvp server? great idea
I can't be bothered going to funerals in real life, let alone in a game - unless there's free drinks and nice ladies (a nice widow should do too) ^_^
Damn, that was some funny shit. And after reading through that message board I'm glad I never got into WoW. Becasue those people are truely pathetic.
