WTB 500GB+ hard drive for original XBOX.

I have a chipped XBOX. I know that with softmodded hard drive upgrades you need lockable hard drives. I don't know if that's the same for chipped XBOX's, if so I'm looking for a lockable hard drive that is 500GB's or more. If it doesn't have to be lockable (which tutorials have told me that it doesn't), then I'm just looking for a hard drive that is IDE I suppose.

If you have a chip, the drive doesnt need to be locked.

I am running a 2.5" Sata drive in mine. I found it to be a better solution than trying to track down an old ide drive.

 

I found a 500GB for $35 that is lockable on eBay. Do you think I should go with that? Or should I aim for a higher hard drive capacity and get an adapter?

 

Drives have a high failure rate after 5 years.

 

I was told by another person that 500GB and smaller have far less chances of failure over 5 years as long as you don't transfer stuff to and fro all crazy. So maybe I should just stick with a 500GB hard drive and just fill it up with games once and leave it be.
