I am looking for a GBA Action Replay, the one with the full size USB socket on the side. Mainly for backup of my cart saves. Usually in a see through clear crystal case.

    See Link: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Action-Repl..._2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1359494931&sr=1-2
I am not sure if the older GBX one also has the USB port on the side.

No need to be packaged or even have the disc in all honesty, so long as the device works okay.

Does anyone have one of these?

I have the DUO GBA+DS version for trade if anyone is interested, with the discs.
I also have one like the one I am looking for but it fails to boot on a black screen - would throw that in to sweeten the deal if interested (I think I also have the disc for this).
Have other bits and bobs to trade.
Get in touch if you have one of these carts!!

I have one of those devices (not sure which brand though), but as far as I can remember it has no USB ports. So yeah, you'll probably have to watch out which one you get if noone offers one here.

You could also try to get a hold one of those old GBA "linkers" (reader/writers for flash carts that don't have removeable media or builtin USB) for managing your saves - afaik reading from/writing to SRAM works with retail carts, too.

I have a XBOO but the thing is it is a PITA to use, seems to be very inconsistent.
I have an OLD OLD linker, but they only do SRAM games.. i.e. I can backup PKMN games but not restore my save after using it on the PC.
I really would appreciate if anyone has one, I would do a swap and a bit of cash for the DUO I have.

I might still have mine somewhere, think it was the Action Replay version 1.x (cant remember will have to check for you), with the usb type B connecter, that can backup game saves.

But as a fair warning it doesnt do all GBA games just the early ones, I found using a DS and a DS Flash Card (R4) works the best and can backup and restore any game thrown at it.

Shipping to you might be a problem, where are you from?

You mean you can backup GBA game saves by using a DS flash card? How does that work?

Yes sorry I meant save game, but the same application can actually do both, dump the rom, and dump the save game, but can off course only restore the save game, not the rom lol ;)

You need a DS or DS-Lite a R4 and "Rudolph's GBA Backup Tool" / "GBA Backup tool"

Start your DS with both the R4 and your GBA game you want to back the save game from, start GBA Backup tool, and select backup sram(IIRC) it will dump the gba save game to your R4s Micro SD card, you can then copy it and edit it as much as you want, copy it back to your micro sd card, then in GBA Backup Tool, select restore sram.

http://filetrip.net/nds-downloads/applications/download-gba-backup-tool-021-f3228.html (sites seems to be down last I tried)

Use to cheat in Pokémon using that method, and a good save game editor.

Nice suggestion. I have a question though:
That sounds like it only does SRAM; is that right? If so, it unfortunately is no better than the linker tehgazza said he already owns.

I am not sure what you are saying... the op wanted the ability to restore a sram save back to the cart - which this does.

You cant restore a rom to the cart as the rom is read only.

OP can already deal with SRAM but apparently wants the other save types (eeprom/flash) as well (specifically the ability to restore them) - see post #3. Thus my question.

    eh?

So he can back them up, but not write them back. Which the DS can do (and confirmed to work with pokemon by fasman too..).

    Unless I am missing something?!

Newest version supports Eeprom to a certain extent, reading and restoring, no idea about flash.

Why not just give it a go, its easy enough?

Edit: and yes it works with PKMN that much I can promise you :p
