    Hi Everyone,

I am looking to buy some bitcoins from any long time members. The reason being, I've been on the forums for quite a long time and I know a bunch of others who have too. It would be nice if I could do a transaction with someone who I’ve dealt with before. All the other places online I've looked at are ether too sketchy, or require too much paperwork to get setup.

I'm not talking loads of money here, I'm talking like $50 or so worth of coins. Just a small amount so I can get some internet payments made. Anyway, if you think you can help please do shoot me a PM.

    Thanks!

Correct, you can make payments with real money. The other side of this is paying with crypto currency - virtual money (in this case ~0.15BTC).
The ways of obtaining them are to mine them (which is a complicated process and the payout is something like 0.00000001 BTC if you're lucky) so it often times is a very long process and long wait before any substantial amount of money is made from it. Alternatively exchange real money for BTC funds.

There's perks to doing this, like direct P2P payments (IE no stops at banks, no fees etc) and as a result allow a secure method of transactions. The downfall is where it's accepted, which has certainly grown but has become hard to find simple streamlined processes to pay for items. Luckily some places have easy ways to pay for it.

Regarding the Silkroad... It was shut down, but I don't know whether it's back up (I've traveled to it before, never had any reason except to see what it was like).
I hope Trenton_Net finds what they're looking for. It's a tough thing sometimes.

As a side fun fact, as of posting this the current BTC to USD exchange rate is 1 BTC = 334.32 USD (it fluctuates rapidly). The first Pizza bought with bitcoins was 10,000 BTC or the equivalent of 3,343,200 USD if using the exchange rate at the moment. Think about that for a while...

Damn!! I wish I got in to bitcoin mining when it first started. But how long do you think bitcoin will last for before it either drops to nothing or becomes outlawed?

Let's not derail it too much, but the answer to that has been tossed around so many times yet still we dont truly know when it will be worthless. Technically it is worthless right now unless someone sees value in it. So when nobody sees value in it is when it dies.

Some air travel companies offer payment with bitcoins too.
AirBaltic was the first ever to offer bitcoins as payment for tickets.
