I know this is my first post - perhaps a faux pa to make it in B/S/T but I've lurked for some time and I know this community to be one of the last where any deals like this can be made.

My first-gen grey Japanese Saturn no longer outputs any video so I'm looking for a new modded Saturn. I need an NTSC capable unit since I'm in the US. This is a serious inquiry as I am a big enthusiast and not having a working Saturn is an unacceptable situation!

Alternately, if anyone is still in the touch-and-go business of Model 1 chipping, I have a US NTSC Model 1 in good condition.

Please get in touch with me if you have a chipped console you would part with or the necessary skills.

I'd prefer Paypal, and I'm open to all reasonable offers/deals.

    Thanks!

Get yourself a model 2 saturn (round buttons) and order a chip at rackedboy.
There is a very simple how to on that site, really anybody can do it.

Good advice. In that case can a mod change the thread title to WTB: Sega Saturn Model 2?

Just to make sure you are aware since you mentioned a Japanese console, Sega Saturn modchips do not allow the play of import discs. If you have a collection of Japanese games you will not be able to play them without a region switch or special cartridge to bypass regional lockout. However you can "backup" your discs and patch the region code and burn a disc which has a US region code.

The model 2 Saturn as stated you can mod without any soldering if you secure the two wires either by manual force or maybe tape. Soldering would probably be better assuming it is soldered properly and makes a good joint.

Racketboy does a great job with shipping, packaging and answering questions. I just wish I didn't have to spend about as much on a chip as I do a console, though supplies of chips are slim these days.

Have fun watching your PAL Saturn blow up when you plug it into US mains, then! :p

raylyd, he's in the US - it's going to be uneconomical for him to cover the cost of shipping if you offer him a chipped Saturn for free, let alone pay for a chipping service!
