    Hello there,

I am looking for a complete Saturn development kit, anything post-Sophia, either a PSY-Q or a Cartdev rev.B

    Thank you,

That's not much help now, is it?

I assume you mean the big kit with the Sophia machines and a CartDev, amongst other things. Of course, he said no Sophia, so not only is it not helpful telling him after it's ended, but he stated he didn't want a Sophia. Why would he waste a lot of money shipping 3 Sophia units for one he wanted? That auction actually sold for 160,000 Yen, which is under $2,000 US.

    Thanks to both of you.
Retro you are correct, I am actually looking for a Cartdev rev.B, as the Sophia system is a little too cumbersome to experiment on, and relatively prone to breaking.

Please if anybody is willing to sell a Cartdev let me know, I can pay its price.

    Cheers,

    Jollyroger

Yes, one of my fellow countrymen who think they can make piles of gold; he mentions that he actually worked for Sega and purchased it while working there, but did you notice that it's missing pretty much everything?
Also the famed "Debugging Kit" he mentions (and that he sells separately) is actually the Magic Card v2...

Ah and I couldn't avoid seeing the Jaguar development environment for four and a half thousand euros too...

    Oh well...

We have them, we just don't want to sell them. Be patient and something will turn up one day - but they don't come up very often.

You'd be much better off starting with an Action Replay and comms card - that's a LOT cheaper. CartDevs are very expensive nowadays.

Fellow countryman? Aren't you Canadian? That isn't a CartDev at all, by the way - merely the Saturn to go on it. His description is pretty inaccurate - if he worked at Sega, he certainly didn't use this unit! For what he's selling, I wouldn't even pay 10% of the asking price!

Isn't this just a debug unit for testing purposes? Even if it came with that cross products stuff and all boxed+mint, I'd still not pay more than a third of those 1250 euros he's asking.

What the auction offers is a stock retail Saturn, modified with an NMI cable, VCD port and perhaps a territory switch, but I don't think they all had that one.

As it stands, it's basically a stock Saturn. IF you could get a CartDev, then it's much more useful, and it's a proper dev kit. Not a debug, no.

    I understand :)

I guess I will wait then, and I agree that they don't come up very often...

To be fair I am not interested in the AR setup, as I like specifically the dedicated hardware parts that allow full debugging and tracing, and luckily money is not too big of a problem (within reason).

I am not Canadian, but I have been living and working in Canada for many years.

By the way I contacted the guy and apparently he has the other parts of the Cartdev, if that is so I will think about purchasing it from him; as it stands the price of just the modified Saturn isn't worth even close to what he is asking, if he does have the whole Cartdev on the other hand...

    Cheers,

    Jollyroger
