this is a north american copy, so if you're playing on a pal ps3 I think the region protection is still there

From what I have read the latest firmware supports playing FFXI on the PS3 using the PS3 hard drive.

You won't be able to use the PS2 HDD on the PS3, obviously.

You can click edit rather than double post, by the way ;)

For the record you do need a HDD, the disk contains a static version of FFXI but you do need a place to store patches and expansions.

I have played US version of FFXI on a TEST Station and it works fine. Or alternatively you could buy a cheap US model PS2 console on Ebay?

FFXI was released in UK for PC. Personally I think FFXI is complete guff, and I wouldn't give it the time of day. As for the rest of the FF series, I love 'em!

Nowadays, if you really must play the game, it's just easier to get the PC version.

    You'll need a US PS2 + Network Adaptor + HDD + the game itself or a US PS3 + the game.

Either way, you'll spend too much money. And imagine if SquareEnix decides to unplug the servers a month after you got it...
