WTB: FM TOWNS computer (full set) - from a US seller

I've been after one of those for quite some time. Trouble is, I don't really want to pay the insane overseas shipping costs to get it to me in the USA.

I want the original 1989 version....as complete as possible, and fully working.
Anyone in the US have on they'd consider selling for a reasonable price?

At this point I'd take any FM Towns set.
I find it hard to believe that nobody in the U.S. has one to sell.

 

Well I am sure that if anyone has spent the time and effort to import one into the country they are likely to sell tons of other stuff first. Even if it was in the US, I still believe they would want to charge you the insane shipping costs on top.

 

They aren't THAT insane if you let it ship via surface mail. If you really want the hardware, maybe without the monitor for a start, you can import it from Japan without paying a hell more than by purchasing one from the US.

 

Bump. I'm still looking for one of these. Anyone US sellers have one?

I imported one of these bad boys from Japan a couple of years ago but there is no way I would sell mine. I bought it from some guy going by "andyarcade" on Ebay. It doesn't look like he has been active for at least a year but his account is still there so maybe he'll answer his email. As I recall, right after I bought one of these from him, he suddenly listed about six or seven complete systems, including a couple of FM Towns II's.

Update: sorry, I just noticed you were trying to dodge the shipping costs by buying domestically - should have caught that earlier.

 

I have an FM TOWNS II HR model with monitor, keyboard, game controller, adapters and voltage converter.

I originally purchased it off Yahoo! Japan Auctions for $300 + $200 for both halves of the unit.

Speaker's grill is missing after I had its capacitors replaced, but auto shutdowns after a few minutes of turning on still occurs.

$700 or a little less is okay. I really must get rid of it. Thank you.

 

Unfortunately, the poster left the forums sometime in the last 9 years since this thread started. Fortunately, you are only 9 posts away from being able to sell on the marketplace here! Once you've done that, go make a thread there and see how it goes.
