WTB: Help with reviving DS flash cart

Like an idiot I updated my DSi XL to 1.4.2 before checking out what the update did whilst its been known what it has done for a few months now. My DS still detects the cart but pops up an error when I try to launch it.

I was hoping someone with either a DS/DSLite or non-updated DSi/XL could give me a hand with flashing updated firmware to it? Its a cheapy R4i Ver2.0 but I can't really afford to drop $20 on a new, higher quality cart such as a M3i Zero and if I could I'd rather put an additional $20 on top of it for a dstwo or CycloDS iEvolution...

I'd be happy to compensate you for your time somehow and shipping both ways of course. I also have a R4i 1.4 (both of these are likely clones) that may/may not work as my DS has flat out refused to see it since a friend gave it to me. Might work, but I sincerely doubt it'll be detectable on anything but a really old DSi firmware or DSL.

Addendum:

Or if anyone has a DS phat or NDSL they wish to part with that has both cart slots functional as well as a responsive screen I'd be down. Just so long as the price is right. If the case looks like it has been used to level a gravel road that is beyond OK with me.

 

Can you post the website that is written on your two R4i cards,its the only way to tell what company they came from, most of them unfortunately aren't upgrade-able.

PS I wont be able to help you with a ds but atleast I can tell you if they are upgradeable or not

 

Just checked, one isn't upgradable for sure, the other is this:

The Ver 2.0 model. There seems to be a .nds file to run on it to update it but I can't be sure. If it can't be upgraded at the very least it'll persuade me to just bite the bullet and get a new one.

It's either that or this other file I found a few days ago that is sitting on my desktop. I'll double check right now.

Yep, different website than what is on the card but apparently thats because the admin took over and they moved the domain to keep up to date. So that patch you have linked should work.

 

I'm willing to do it with my DSL if you can determine which patch to use and supply it to me, I just don't want to take responsibility if it turns out to be the wrong patch, so I don't want to choose which patch to use at my own discretion

 

Understandable, though this flash cart cost me a whole $11 and as it stands is all but useless to me.

Two friends of mine said they have access to NDSLs that they could let me use to try to fix this. I don't know when I'll see either of them next but I'll hit them up first for convenience's sake. If not, expect a PM.
