from memory it won't be easy to obtain the retro consoles coz not many shops carry in Korea - the retro scene isn't that big in Korea I believe... The best bet would be private purchase on various online forums but...

Yongsan Plaza shops usually do not carry mucn of old machines and when they do charg for arm and leg... -_-;

 

Yeah Yongsan Plaza is really the only place to go to grab Korean retro stuff. There's not much of it (at current they have a comboy, saturn, megadrive and snes) but they refuse to sell any of it to me because I'm a westerner.

Yes it is apparently.
Though you can always ask your Korean colleagues to buy for you I suppose... ^ ^;

 

I own a samsung megadrive with some games that I am willing to sell at the right price, pm'd you let me know if you're interested.

 

is it legal to deny someone a purchase? In korea that is, in Europe it sure is not.

 

Can you please read the rules. If your posting something for sale you need to post a price with it.

 

Sorry don't even know why I posted that as I actually don't want to part with it to be honost (it took me ages to find one) so maybe if I find one in better of boxed conditions i'll part with it.

It's not like you can report to Police and they will do anything about it.
Seriously you will find some Korean will be some what discrimitive towards to people other than who looks like Korean... (But then I saw this pretty much everywhere I travelled at varying degree~)

 

No. The store owners have complete control over what gets sold to people. If they don't like your haircut, they could tell you to get the hell out of the store.

 

Seeing that the retro market isnt that big in korea and that westerners pay more for retro consoles I don't understand why they shouldn't sell it to one.. money is the same color no need to discriminate profits but if they insist then it's their loss.

Personally I have been to korea and several other asian countries and never had such problems, they were always more then happy to sell me something for more then they would charge a local.

No boxes I'm afraid but then I haven't been in a while. I might go this saturday and see what's new.

from memory there are two shops at Yongdan Plaza with Samsung Saturn consoles. Unfortunately not only they wasked way too much but couldn't not - and probably will not - test the console to see whether it's in working order...
Plus no box and no pad and no etc...

Right, I went back. All in all there is a gameboy, megadrive, nes comboy snes comboy, N64 and samsung saturn (which is white not black). I can buy anything I want, talking a little korean worked for some reason. However everthing is loose, unboxed and untested.
