I'm looking for a Mega Drive to X68000/FM Towns gamepad adaptor. The Mega Drive gamepad has a slightly different pinout.

Not that rare, as it was a part that shipped with the X68000 copies of Street Fighter 2. Although it was intended for use with the big Capcom six-button joystick, you could technically use it with any Genesis/Megadrive controller. Shameless plug for a GamesX page with all the info:

The Mega Drive controller works fine with the Sharp X68000. However you can use only one button. The other buttons are not available. I just need an adapter where I can use a second button. I don't need all 6 buttons. And btw, I have only the standard 3-button controller for the MD ;-)

It's very easy to modify a Megadrive pad so it will work as a two button pad. I'll mod one in the next few days as I need to make another MSX pad.

You are aware that MSX and FM Towns pads are compatable and will work with the X68000? In fact some Megadrive joysticks, esp ones made by Dempa normally have a switch to switch between Megadrive and PC (MSX, FM Towns, X68000 and certain PC-9801 expansion cards).

I would like to use the MD pad for the Megadrive as well. Therefore I prefer an adaptor. However I could solder one by myself. According to the pinout from gamesx http://gamesx.com/wiki/doku.php?id=controls:sega_atari_msx_x68000 I just need to connect pin 9 to 7 and pin pin 8 to 9. But what does 'OUT' mean ?

Yes, I know. However I don't own MSX or FM Towns.
