Z64 was certainly not made with home brew in mind. Unreleased games are playable if a) <= 256M and b) available for you to backup. Both however are playable with the "mod" should you be able to manage copying files to an IDE hard disk...

You can simply copy any homebrew stuff onto a zip disk and load it in the z64, no problem.

If you didn't replace the drive with a hard drive.

    True...

although I now have a - I believe - totally unique Z64 which has a compact flash slot installed in place of the zip drive.

It also runs a new bios (I currently have 2 up and running - I named them 2.19 and 2.20 just to follow convention) which is required to use a compact flash card.

(2.19 is basically identical to the unofficial 2.18 except it also supports compact flash, 2.20 boots to a new WIP (12/06) version of Enhanced-DR-DOS in an attempt to speed up file load times, although it appears to have no impact).

This makes running homebrew a peice of cake as I can just move the compact flash from PC to Z64.
