WTB: N64 Prototypes from Rare (Twelve Tales)

Hello, I'm guessing I won't have much luck with this thread at all. I know that most Rare prototypes are long away from this website.

First of all, I want to buy any prototypes from Rare, that includes Banjo-Kazooie, Banjo-Tooie, Donkey Kong 64, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Conker Twelve Tales, Conker's Bad Fur Day, Dinosaur Planet, etc.

I know that Twelve Tales has been bouncing around from collector to collector for a while. Not sure where it is now though. But this game is my main priority.

If you have / Know anybody with any of these prototypes, please contact me right away.

I am WELL AWARE of how much these items would cost. My first task is getting ahold of somebody that has these items.

No, I believe he was called Nintendomad. Lived in the UK (I believe) but nobody knows the full story behind Twelve Tales (I think).

 

Yeah, I asked about this game a little bit ago too. I don't think we will see it surface for a while.

 

I would buy it and dump it. It's not supposed to be in a collectors hands, it's supposed to be available for anybody to play!

 

That's nice to hear you'd dump it, whenever I see posts like this I immediately think it's just some collector who after getting their proto probably won't even share any info about it =p

Wasn't Nintendomad the guy with the Bad Fur Day debug copy? Nothing too exciting. I've yet to see anyone publicly say they own or have owned a proto of this game, I'm not sure how you can know it's been bouncing around between collectors. Where did you hear that?

Anyway I hope someone comes forth with it. This is one proto I really want to see, I remember waiting so long for the game and was crushed when it didn't come out. Bad Fur Day is great, but I consider it a separate game. I'm all for helping out if this ever had a chance for getting public preservation.

 

I heard it from somebody who knew somebody who owned it and had played it. Sadly when trying to get in contact with the guy it had already been sold several times and he didn't want to name anybody.

We need Twelve Tales. I don't want to live my life without it. I'm sure Nintendo has some ROMs of it somewhere, those bastards.

 

Hmm hopefully whoever your contact is wasn't exaggerating. Assembler made a post about a copy having switched hands from some Nintendo subcontractor for a supposed $11,000 or so. I posted about it a couple places and now I've seen others spread that story around acting as though they had first class info. It's pretty ridiculous :x But if it's somebody who played it, that's entirely different..

Who knows if Nintendo would have it, but I recall hearing Rare had a vault of all their old stuff with Conker in it, or something to that effect. If I recall it was straight from the words of someone at Rare, though they may had been joking around a bit and weren't entirely serious. Either way I hope they still have kept an archive of all the work they did.

 

I don't think he was exaggerating. His username is not on any other site so he would't ruin his reputation if he had lied, he was also very serious about the matter. So... I am officially offering $15,000 USD for a Twelve Tales prototype.

Nintendo got so many ROMs from Rare for all the versions of their games made, Nintendo just put em' on flash carts and tested them. I don't think they got rid off the ROMs. Some employee's must have stolen some ROMs as well.

Rare keeps all their work on CD's, HDD's and cartridges. They won't ever get rid off them ... Maybe they will actually, because of all this Kinect sports shit. I just hope we can obtain all their stuff eventually.

For seriousness:

Do you have or know somebody who has Conker Twelve Tales? Then let me buy it for $15,000 USD!
(I really hope somebody notices this. Also; If you are a Rare employee or a former Rare employee with access to Twelve tales or any other beta version of a Rare game then let me know right away. I've handled a lot of beta games before and made sure that nothing goes back to the one I obtained it from. We can fake dates, alter ROM information and make sure there's nothing at all to link it back to you. Plus you'll be getting quite a bit of cash, you know you like this deal.) (... I sort of feel like I made myself sound stupid. I really hope I can get ahold of this game.)

I feel like I had to make an offer similar to what the price has been going for. It's a lot of money to put on a game though.

If only we could break into Rare and 'take' what we deserve... They've got some pretty serious security.

Well, you'll probably gonna be getting some scuff for saying we "deserve" to take it, since in the grand scheme of things we're not any more entitled to the work as the people who worked hours of their lives on each individual aspect of the game and probably to this day don't have a copy of it themselves.

You're definitely the guy to get it though since you say you'll dump it. If you came across Dinosaur Planet I'd keep it to myself as well =p No offense nesworld, but seeing you call sharing the rom of Glover 2 as "warez" when you have a whole site based on protos, plus collect protos yourself, and have clearly benefited from people sharing their protos...a tad too hypocritical for me. Seriously made me lose some respect for you.

That's funny, so because I write about prototypes and unreleased games on my website I'm supposed to release the Glover 2 rom to the public? That's a funny conclusion you've got there

By buying a prototype, but not sharing it with everyone, it makes you loose respect for me? and I'm a hypocrite?! OH MY :clap:

Money makes the world go 'round, I bought a prototype because someone wanted to get rid of it, protos are rarely given away for free in case you didn't know. Everyone here had the chance to buy that exact proto, yeah it was sold right here on this very forum, heck it even sat there waiting for a buyer for weeks.

So i invested a lot of my hard earned money in a prototype because I was curious to see what it was, and then you expect me to just give the content to everyone else for free because it turned out to be an unreleased game? Well that makes perfect sense to me, the only person who would loose on that deal would be me.

If this makes me a hypocrite, then be it...

No harm in reasonable time to gauge interest. A free release out of community good will can wait. Better than hoarding and bragging by any means.

Was away for a bit and didn't have time to respond, but I just want to say you completely misinterpreted me. I was only, and ONLY commenting on the fact that in a youtube video when someone mentioned releasing it, you referred to that as "warez." You spent money on it, of course it's your to do what you want. I just thought the comment about it being warez sounded hypocritical because again, you've obviously benefited from all the prototypes throughout the years you've either downloaded or obtained through other means, which is technically "warez."

The fact Glover 2 is out now(from your cart I'm assuming) only even more still just makes me wonder why you left that comment on youtube. I can see how you could read into my comment having sounded like it was pushing for you to give stuff away, I guess it's unavoidable in the context of prototypes to sound like I beggar though regardless of what you're arguing
