Just as an FYI (I don't have one to sell) you WILL want one with the IPL cart if you intend to do anything with it. Without the cart, the blue drive is beyond useless for anyone except a collector.

I read that some rev of the 64DD devkits has the IPL ROM inside like the retail one.
Is that true, can anyone confirm this?
And yes the price is much to high... But thats ebay. Thanks for the link.

It seems like a very select few might have the IPL but I am not sure if barc0de was able to find any (I think it was him trying to track them down based on a picture of a blue 64DD running with no IPL cart).

Even if one does not have the IPL4ROM cart, It is possible to boot a Dev 64DD by using the IPL rom on a flash cart (yet this is kind of sketchy in the legal sense). Yet most don't know/realize this.

I had no luck finding a Dev DD unit which contained the IPL. Having seen the mobo's pictures it seems like something that could be retrofitted by someone with a soldering iron - after all the picture I saw was from inside Nintendo's offices, despite being Param's development. (beta testing of Doshin the Giant 1)

It might have been a hybrid in that it used rewritable media to play back on a retail-configured dev kit. (ie containing the DDROM loaded from the appropriate DDROM address, not using the special dev libraries/addresses etc)

the DDROM and IPL4ROM are similar but they are also different, one is used by retail games, the other is used to make games and is accessed on a different branch of the PI bus (top slot)
