Hi guys, I've just come into a box full of nes games for free but I don't have a console to play them on, I know I could get a regular nes but I've always fancied a toploader so nows a good time as any to buy one.....I only need the console itself no cables and as cheap as possible as I've recently become unemployed.

I know one of you guys has like ten of these hiding away in a basement or something

    Thanks.

What's the difference between a 101 system and the normal top loader? Are they the same thing?
    Some kind of revision?

don't know if your being sarcastic but I want a NES not SNES

I think it was called the NES 2 when it was released in 1993, just do a google and you will find a lot of images.

The NES 101 is the normal toploader. Some people also call it the Control Deck, but as far as I know they all refer to the same American hardware release. But while I was researching variants, I came across this little factoid in the Wikipedia article:

There are two known revisions of the NES-101; both have redesigned circuit boards that improve video output quality. The first has a Nintendo AV Multi-Out port (the same one built on the Super NES, Nintendo 64, and GameCube) that replaces the RF jack completely. The other looks exactly the same as the rest with the RF video output jack and channel select switch, but with excellent video output quality. These versions were replacements for those who sent their original NES-101 systems to Nintendo with a poor quality video complaint. These models are extremely rare as they all came as replacement units from Nintendo, but some claim that the revised AV model was in stores near the end of it's lifespan.

Not to hijack the thread, but I'd love to see a picture of one with the multi-out port if anybody has that.

That's right. It's a little confusing because NES 2, like both SNES 2 and Genesis 2, was given the very same US name as the original. AV Famicom in Japan also did that.
