    Howdy all,

I'm after, if available from anyone an Xbox OG copy of either:
    - MechAssault (Asian Version, Not Japan Version!) Part Number X09-24634 (Front of Disk)
    - Splinter Cell (Asian Version, Not Japan Version!) U78-00001 US012A01 (Front of Disk)

Either game needs to work in an NTSC-J unmodded console, as you no doubt have guessed I am trying to softmod it to bounce my way to the land of TSOP. There's a few more games that might work here - listed in this thread: http://assemblergames.com/l/threads/games-to-softmod-that-sweeeeet-ntsc-j-japanese-xbox.53333/

If you can help me get Kasumi-box off the ground I'd be most appreciative! Until then I'll just stare at the MS Dashboard of my Xbox :)

Thanks in advance to anyone reading! :-D

Try Yahoo Japan, and a service like Buyee. If you have no luck.

And or hotswap, you've got old computer hardware laying around it's an easier method. (think there's NTSC-J alternatives for that)

Oh while you're rollin' about, any ideas if the mainboard ever came out in this Kasumi unit? The mainboard screws were oh so crooked - they matched the XBOX logo on the top :D

Sticker was intact so nope. Either it was refurbed at one stage or someone got the sticker reprinted very well. Either way, I didn't open it.

Reseat the jewel too, I never got around to it.

I did a test run on another Xbox... And YIKES is that jewel stuck down well... I might just leave it crooked for now ;)

It's interesting to note it has a 1.0 board in it - I was reading about your posts in another thread, possibly to do with the exploitable softmods, and their Kasumi Xbox was also 1.0 - that's odd right? For a 2004 manufactured Xbox?

Good way on removing the jewel is use a heatgun or hairdryer will soften the foam. Then use dental floss or fishing line and saw the foam part off lightly prying up with a plastic removal tool (like used on mobile phones). Once you have it off, use eucalyptus oil and the foam will come right off. Then just get some car trim mounting tape and use a knife and cut around it. Stick back on.

Japanese consoles had very early boards for some bizarre reason, probably because the market sucked over there for it they just put shit in them. Also had the slowest dvd-rom drives as well.

Thomsons were the slowest? That makes me a sad panda! :-(

Those tips on removing the jewel are worth their weight in gold, thanks! I have some super thick super strong floss too. It's too thick to floss with but might just work on this. Legend! :)

I like the 1.0 boards, they have an old world charm about them... maybe that makes me a little bit strange... ;)

Painfully slowest lol, but I haven't had one fail me tbh, and I've owned many Xboxes.

1.0 boards are the best for a TSOP though, 1MB chip, and can fit the last best xecuter bios on them.

Probably because they don't run faster than slow, still I'd take that over a non-functional something else drive that doesn't eject properly! :)
Oh yes, your recommendations in that regard? You are one of the big Xbox players on here! (Do you have any Xbox left?)

Exactly right. The sticky trays get annoying.

I think on the Xbox I sold you with the TSOP has the X2 bios of some sort, can't remember numbers well.. maybe 5032? Otherwise you can use the iND-BIOS.
Only Xbox I have left is the X3 chipped one, selling that now actually. Have no use for it now.

Ah yes! Good point, I should just look at the Xboxes I have already shouldn't I? :) That one has been tidied up and lives in the front house here now! Bluey and Devvy will live in my room in the bookcase of DOOM! Thanks Hex!

You've got to keep at least one Xbox? How will I know who you are in the streets if you haven't got an Xbox or two tied to your leg? It would be like me leaving the home without 32X units taped to my chest in a floral dress! o_O
