    i have the rewritable version of this pic 12f509a, the same hex that works on 12c509 and 12c508 works on it, and this pic is not going to dissapear :p

    12f is a heck of lot more expensive!
    Even new it can be had for a sub $1 price.

    So are 286 CPUs but they still use them in abundance for auto-pilot systems. I believe they use 4 to a system due to their robustness, cheapness and the fact they're so damn old there are no real surprises.

    You might try digi-key.com, I've known people to order small amounts of material from them before.

    If you have no luck assembler let me know and I should be able to source them.

    I was under the assumption that microchip.com no longer supply these, I know they do not offer them as samples anymore.

    I have a few here but nowhere near the number that you want.

    I love pic chips, my next megadrive mod is going to be using one or 2 of them.
