Hello, I'm looking to complete my GC controller collection. I'm only missing the Char Wavebird, and I want to get my hands on the prototypes too.

    So this one:

Ps. I don't mind that much about the box as long as the red receiver is there.

    And prototypes:

    or any other prototype really.

You might want to reread the rules ;)
There is no post requirement for buying.

Well, I guess if my signature can't convince you nothing will :/ (pretty funny tho, nice controller!) I plan on getting all the prototype variants in the future. But I do have a few questions:
    1. How does the triggers feel? Do they have both the analog and digital input? (the click)
    2. How much did you pay for it and where did you get them from?
    3. The last one is a bit more complex, I would use this to test a theory for the angle values. If possible, do you think you could install a modified SSB Melee iso and check the values of each notch on the controller? You'd need to build an adapter although as the plug is different, so don't feel forced to do it lol, I plan on doing it anyway.

    And plz don't scare me like this ever again. ;_;

sorry for that! I guess trading was not meant for buying, I apologize for that man

    to answer your questions:
1: the R + L triggers does not have the click, (for both controllers) the buttons feel different as well. they feel a bit 'heavier' then the retail console.
2: I rather not say how much I paid for them, but in 2015 there were both listed on eBay, so I won 1, the other I lost, exactly 1 year later someone PMed me on Facebook he had a white prototype for sale.. and it was actually the one I lost that year ago.. pretty hilarious
3: that is a good one.. I really have no idea, .. ^^; I buy proto's/dev stuff to display like a museum , not to create/debug or develop something,

Oh and here is a pic:

    They look fantastic :p

Btw I wanted the values of the controller because I believe the prototype controllers were bundled with the first dev sets. In Super Smash Bros Melee, there is a technique called shield dropping, which requires you to hit an angle to drop off a platform while in shield. But somehow that angle is super off the notch, which makes this mechanic extremely inconsistent. So my theory is that the devs used that prototype controller to measure the notch value, which is different than the final controller. The values required to shield drop are 0.6625, 0.6750, 0.6875, but the value on the bottom corner notches on the GC controller are 0.7000 - 0.7125. I believe the prototype controllers have a notch value of 0.6750, I just need to confirm.

I want those controllers to display too but I'm pretty curious lol. If you ever want to sell them contact me lmao. And thanks for the answers. o/

Good stuff! My grey/white one is getting lonely. They look good as a pair.

@Synnett good luck with your search! I've been looking for a while also with not much luck. There are relatively a good number of these controllers out there, but not many people looking to sell right now. This is pushing the prices high. If you find one someone is willing to sell, expect to pay a premium.
