WTB PS2 leads/Memory card

I'm receiving a PS2 from a friend without any video/power cables so I was wondering if anyone has any spare ones lying around they don't mind parting with. Also looking for a memory card.

Preferably someone from Europe because of shipping.

 

I may have a spare RCA (red, white and yellow) AV cable laying around which if i find you can have for the price of shipping.

 

you can always buy PS3 video leads if you are stuck, I got a very nice brand new PS3 scart from play.com for £5 for my ps2

Dealextreme was a good tip, thanks. Just ordered a memory card and component cables from there for 10$. Now I just need a power supply... I heard you could use the DC power supply, is that true though? My dreamcast is also USA, and the PS2 PAL so don't know if that's gonna f*ck it up or.

 

You can use the the DC power cord because its a standard figure 8 type on the end which can work on most electronics as i use my pal DC cable for that, my printer and i have it connected to my pal ps2 slim power brick but i'm not sure about the fact that you dc is US and ps2 is pal .

 

A standard plug converter will work, but a figure 8 cable is so cheap it's not worth it. Assuming it's a big ps2 and not a pstwo, which has an external power supply.

 

I have lots of spare PS2 power supplies.

Thanks for all the good tips and generous offers, but the figure 8 cable from my old printer works just fine . Also ordered me MGS2 so when my video cables arrive in 1-2 weeks it's gonna be fun:dance: . Need to get a controller first though .

 

Since my component cables aren't giving me any picture (they do give me sound, weirdly enough) does anybody have any spare AV cables around they don't mind parting with for a small price?

 

The PS2 is probably currently setup to output RGB, rather than component.

Easiest solution is to find & use a composite/svideo cable to change the settings, but you might be able to set it blind - think the sequence is:
1) Power it up without anything in the drive, then wait 10/20 secs for it finish booting & start making that sea waves sound
2) press <down>, X, <down>, <down>, <down>, X, <right>, X, O

It should now be showing a component signal with a bit of luck.

 

Thanks limey, gonna try that tonight! Someone else tipped me to remove the battery from the machine so it would reset itself, but that didn't work (I took the battery out for a good 10 minutes) .

As for the battery trick, I wonder whether some of these settings are actually stored in flash, since I've had units sitting around unused/unpowered for a couple of years without seemingly losing any settings. Even the internal clock kept moderately reasonable time.

 

Yeah, I think I did something wrong with the battery because I couldn't input the time just now, so gonna open it up again tonight.

 

Any CD Player power supply will work. I say CD player cuz thats where I've seen them the most. pretty much any PSU with a eight looking end.

 

The power supply in the "fat" PS2 is internal. As is the power supply in the DC.

Since it's not an easy feat to swap the power supplies, I don't think you have anything to worry about.

The cable that goes to the wall in both consoles is just that...a cable.

You only need to worry about voltage, wattage, amperage and power ratings when you're looking at swapping the supplies themselves.
