I am looking to purchase some various development tools, must be unmodified and functional for use in development.

    Serious sellers only please.

I am looking to save some money, so please no offers that will cost more than just ordering from devnet.

    PS3 :
    1 of --- DECR-1000A or DECR-1400A
    1(or more) of --- DECH-A00A or DECH-4000AA (no CEX->DEX conversion please)

    PS Vita:
    1 of --- PDEL-1000 or PDEL-1001
    1(or more) of --- PTEL-1000 or PTEL-1001

Less interested in, but considering purchasing if available:
    PSP DevKit's
PS Vita Dev/Debug (Retail versions modified to run debug firmware)

It is ok if you would prefer to PM me details prior to posting here, also if you have any questions please ask.

    Thank you all

I assume that you are an indie developer who would like to create games for the PS platform. If you are, then would suggest that you apply for equipment loan program via devnet.

If you are a collector then it'd suggest you to wait for a year or two when the prices of those equipment going down. I understand that many would like to get ones at devnet prices, especially the DECH4000AA ones, but there are a lot of commitments to fulfill when one joins devnet and I haven't seen/heard anyone joins devnet and orders only 1-2 dev kits.

for the PS4 and PSV, they are useless without the key generates by the organization that partners with SCE every 60 days so you mind want to consider that.

    Hope it helps.

This message is very sincere, so I appoligize if it seems like a rant. It is just something important to me.

    1. Thanks for you reply,
    2. I am an indie developer, working to form a small co-op style studio developing and publishing.
    3. I am fullly licensed with SCEA for development and publishing and am on devnet for PS3 PS4 PSVita PSP and PS@Home.
    4. I am hoping to be able to find some cheaper devkits here, I just missed a DECH-A00A on ebay for $400. Right now to buy one (DECH-4000AA) from devnet is $800.
    5. I have already send a request to my TPR manager to determine if I can activate any of the aftermarket hardware. I asked if it was legal for me to buy it (as I know that it is a violation form them to sell it or it could be stolen, in which case sony could tell me that.)
    6. Just because someone may be looking for many of something, doesn't mean they want to risk losing a lot of money and say buy 20 DECR1000A's for a great "Bargin" from an internet message board. If I am able to find some hardware here that is cheap enough to buy, and is not stolen, and sony will let me activate them on my account. Then that is one more IGDA member or developer or artist or fan or gamer that I may be able to help get into console games, that I can provide equipment for as part of my co-op studio.

We have 5 titles we are currently pushing though for approvals for the PS4 (to begin), that can also be published to the PS3 test stations (love frameworks/engines). The whole idea is that some young person wants to be a professional game developer, there are a lot of places to go for almost anything you can think of. But no studio that produces console games will hire a young developer with no experiance with console development.

If I can get these cheaper ps3 test kits, then I can have more potential developers learning, having fun, producing legit console games, from start to finish. No BS school that takes your money and hopes for the best. Just want to help build a community.

You know some great homebrew communities exist because it is so difficult and expensive to put out official games, and if I can and they want to, I will also start publishing homebrew (not the insane illegal or copyrighted things) onto the PSN for the guy who works twice as hand with less ( way less ) available information than the devs on devnet to build a game without any good tools.

Ultimately, I can't reach my goals to complete my titles in the pipeline, and do my underthings, and get my studio co-op off the ground with $4200 PS4 tools, and $1200 ps4 TEST machines.... but it I use a multi-platform engine (Which I have already licensed) then I can get a lot more people in testing on $800 PS3 TEST or $2200 PS3 TOOLS, and even more than that if I can get some cheap kits from whomever (as long as sony agrees, as as a matter of fact it looks like they are about to reply to my request to use after market tools, lets see what they say.)

What tichua was trying to (delicately) say is that no one is likely to risk getting sued just to get you a "deal."

The long and short of it is that most people don't have access to Sony's devnet like you do. For the vast majority of collectors, being able to buy NIB hardware direct from Sony at Sony's prices would be a total bargain.

If you need to "lower costs" and don't think that there is any risk in breaking NDAs (and likely other contracts), then why don't you do so, instead of asking others to shoulder the risk for your benefit?

Take orders, buy the kits from Sony and then resell them at ~15% markup. That'll get you the savings you want and the only one risking legal action from Sony would be you.

I don't want anyone to break any laws, I was just looking around, as I have seen some on ebay.

But, you are indeed correct. Could a moderator please close this thread.

    Thank you,

I read this a bit late but here is my inputs.

I think ThoughtMachanic has a valid reason for wanting some PlayStation Development items at an affordable price. Small indie studios (2-5 people) usually don't have enough funds to get all the equipment out of their pockets. As a result, SCE came up with the equipment loan program to help such developers out. I haven't heard or seen any confirmation from them regarding the shutting down that program but it's a possibility.

From what I understand from Thoughtmachanic's post, he/she is working for a decent size company (trying to push 5 titles at the same time). As a result, I think it shouldn't be a problem regarding the budget to request get such equipment for development. Publishing 5 titles at the same time is a lot of works and costing a lot of money. If I'm wrong, please correct me.

I think Thoughtmachanic is off for a good start by already acquiring the PS4 dev kit. Even though the price is more expensive than what I know. I think with a budget of $400-$500 (like he said above), he can find plenty of used PS3 TEST systems around the net easily. Leewoof on here has a few DECH systems for sale, you might want to contact him for such equipment.

Regarding the issue that no studios would hire young developers with no console development experience, I think this is completely not true. I've worked for various gaming companies and there is always a shortage on developer at every company I've been with. We went to high school to encourage kids learn programming so they can create awesome games when they graduate. We partnered with universities to create Video Game courses to give students more exposure to the gaming development world. We also signed contract with universities to create Computer Game Science major and promised to hire the students upon graduation if they follow the tracks and satisfy the requirements. There are a lot of opportunity out there for a young enthusiastic video game developer like you. If you look for the right place, you'd definitely get the job you want. I don't know where you are, but if you locate in southern California, drop me a PM. I might be able to find something for you.

my 2 cents. Hope it helps

I am interested in PS3 Debug Units as long as they are not YLOD or outrageously priced.
