sorry to barge in like this, but the highest I ve been faced with for a Test PS3 was 900GBP, and even that was an exaggerated price. It's just a Test console, not a devkit.

The Devkit is VERY expensive , not due to manufacturing costs, but mostly due to the licensing fee.

Ive actually heard around $900 US was the list on a TEST (from the big S), so atleast it seems to be true. Would I pay $300 more than a PS3 to not be able to play BR movies? Dunno. Would I pay $300 more to run unsigned code, big yes!

 

Its all supply and demand and as far as I have seen there is allot more demand than a supply.

 

yes, demand is high, but at what price? If everyone agrees to stick to some price X for a period of time then a seller will definetely have a hard time penetrating pockets.

 

You are pretty close it's 800$ to be exact! A bummer that it doesnt play BlueRay movies.. But yeah it plays unsigned (debug) codes and you can install PSnetwork games on it.

I heard also it doesn't play ps1 and ps2 games as well.

How could I miss this

 

The debug PS3 unit doesn't do much apart form play code on BD-R discs, it won't play retail PS3 games, nor PS2 or PS1 games (retail or beat discs), although reads the memory cards you can't do much with them, it won't play BR movies or DVDs either.
