I received a card from a friend, but he couldn't find the power extension cable.

13.00USD is a joke of a price, plus I m not sure if they ship to UK.

Anyone in the UK has a spare?

    Thanks

looks like just a molex -> floppy and molex power cable. Should be available on ebay or from any PC shop for a few £. is it floppy or molex that goes into the card?

it's not a floppy molex, i tried. Ati has a shitty european customer support and accessories website as well, not very much encouraged to make a purchase from them.

The cable pictured is a molex male-female extension with a floppy adapter. Try fitting it again, I remember my 9800 Pro being pretty stiff.

Not that we don't believe you, but I think that we need a pic of you trying to connect it...

Going by the cable you've shown, you'd need to use the floppy bit. My sound card needs the same cable, it connects to 4 bare pins as I recall, so give it another look.

Literally, the cable you've linked to is molex pass-through with a floppy connector off the side. One of those will be what it requires.

Alchy is right. Most powersupplies have two floppy power plugs so use the second one or just unplug the one on your floppy drive and connect it to the card. You should be fine and not have to spend money on a simple Y power adaptor.

honestly, i ve tried, floppy doesnt do it.

the molex is "taller" than the available space between the pins and the plastic :( I also think i have only one floppy power molex, damn floppies, they should be removed all-together, USB-boot ftw!

What is the model of card you have becuase the $13 cable from ati is for a 9700/9800 and i am 100% sure that the 9700 takes a floppy plug while looking at a pic of a 9800 it looks to use the standard molex power cable

I have a Radeon Sapphire 9700 with 128MB of VRAM. As i forementioned, the floppy plug, although similar, does not quite fit due to it being somewhat 'fatter'.

I don't get it. who built the card? ATI or some other company like Sapphire or Connect3d? The link you originally posted shows an actual floppy molex connector!

It is NOT a floppy cable. They look similar but are not the same. ATi still uses a connector that at least looks like it to this day.

The chip on the card is provided by Ati. The company who made the card however, is Sapphire

    http://www.digital-daily.com/video/saphire-radeon-9700-pro/ this is my card

    this is ze connector:

I m almost ready to crack open the case and fit the damn thing in. But frankly, I don't know why it didn't fit or seem not to the first time around. Although when so many claim that it's an FDD molex, then I m surely the one who's mistaken. Too bad my case only offers a single FDD molex power connector. :(

your out of luck if you use your FDD cable becaue that connector is definatly a FDD cable type connection

you can pick up single cables with FDD molex at one end to go into your graphics cards and a HDD type molex at the other end which fits into a spare molex cable from your pc which is what i have in my Graphics card, i'll see if i have one lying arround for you.
