WTB: region-free Sega Genesis/Megadrive + Sega CD/Mega CD

I'm looking to buy or trade for a region-free Sega Genesis+Sega CD or Megadrive+Mega CD system combo. Must be able to play US and Japanese carts and discs (PAL games not necessary but would be nice).

My Japanese Mega CD is acting finicky and doesn't read some discs. Sometimes I would need to reset the console a few times before it decides to work. Also I'd like to collect some US games.

I would prefer the model 2 (top loading) Sega/Mega CD as long as it works perfectly fine. If you just have an un-modded Japanese Mega CD I would be interested too.

well i got my megadrive modded so with the switches i can select between 50/60hz and all language modes. i'm not sure about region modding a sega/mega cd but theres software out there to patch the game region. i have a everderive md aswell and theres options on that to load the correct region bios for mega cd games so maybe an everdrive md is worth looking into aswell. trhe reason i metion all this is that judging by the lack of replies to your original post if you cant buy the combo ready to go there are ways of purchasing systems seperatly and achieving the same outcome with little hassle involved

 

If you ask me, you should look into fixing up your current Mega CD and installing a region-free BIOS. The laser might just be dirty or maybe it needs replacing.

 

yeah i agree with fireaza. always better to go down the repair route before buying replacements. sometimes the repairs can be easy and cheap.

 

Bad_Ad84 can burn an EPROM with the region free CD BIOS. Then you just have to switch the console for the region and the CD follows accordingly. 32X mod is simple enough, just one wire for NTSC/ PAL.
