I don't know if it's just me around here, but looking around the WTB section is somewhat like looking through the "New Member Introduction Forum" section of this site. I personally see a trend in the WTB section that is members registering just to ask for items of high value (development discs of high profile titles that they probably can't even afford, development kits that don't even show up for sale for the established members on the forum, things like that) and I think it does a few different things: 1. It's unappealing to see new members come in, and scam off of what this forum is and what it was built on, just to, perhaps, lowball on valuable items/offer cheap trades. 2. The new members sometimes posting in the WTB thread post the thread, then go inactive for an excess of time, making the thread basically useless 3. We have well established members still adding to their collection. I personally feel that seniority matters, as some well known and established members here could have been waiting for an item for a period of time, only to have new members come through posting WTB threads for said item. I feel that some of the same rules used in the Marketplace should be used in the WTB section. Maybe 25-30 posts or so for WTB posting, Price Check forum remains the way it is. You can just make a WTB thread without any prior post/waiting period requirements? I had no idea... I agree, it should match the marketplace rules.
I would say the price check forum is a bigger issue. It's essentially a marketplace where new members can sell items without listing a price. How many times have members, staff included, replied to one of those threads with "I will give you $x for it." or "PM me if you want to sell." It circumvents the rules. The WTB is fine. If it bothers someone, they are free to make a WTB thread and bump it every week. You'll be the first in line that way. It's not like the new members are taking all the good stuff from the rest of the members. I actually think the WTB give members a chance to sell items that aren't worth the trouble of listing. I might not have any desire to sell any of my stuff, but if I saw a WTB with the right price, I would part with it.
Bringing this out, I do agree with you. I still feel that there should be tighter restrictions on the WTB section at least, since the Price Check section doesn't get as much attention as the Marketplace or WTB, but it should still have requirements nonetheless, the Price Check forum.
