Hi guys, I was able to buy a SEGA CD 1 in a pretty nice price , but of course the console wasnt perfect, It has this error that loads games easily, but once they are running you can't stop the lens work (that means changing the game, reseting or pausing the game for a long time) cause the lens will not detect the games anymore. After some hours, the console will work again. According a friend of mine that always help me whit technnical support, the CD board is overheating and that is the problem. SO there are 95% chances that I will fix this founding a working CD lens Board, but it must be the JVC model. I already owned a Sega CD2, but I want to fix this console as a gift for my best friend. Since we were kids He always wanted one of these SEGA CD 1 Models, so my plans are surprise him sending him this console at this christmas. So PLEASE, guys, If someone around have the JVC Laser Lens Board working properly and will like to make a deal whit it, please just send me an inbox. At ebay people normally abuse with old console parts. Best Vibes guys!

if its a heating issue, and just a heating issue, might I recommened putting on a heatsink with a fan with some thermal adhesive.

with cd1 first thing you need to do is cap kit. All cd1 have leaking caps.

Thanks for the advice, we already toughed on that, but is not our first choice, the case model will implied to be cut in order to put the fan in a good place... and thats not a choice . The board of the Laser lens is the one overheating , so here is not space for a heatsink under it :(

    I have the same model.

In place of a large heatsink then you should have room to use a laptop heatsink with a fan attatched. Example below, though it doesnt need t be that specific model.

Not enough space, the Laser lens Board is really close to the main board, under the CD Tray, The only place left is behind the tray, but the case must be cuted; not an option. I need this as a Christmas gift, and I want to give my pal the feeling he should haved as a kid. The console must look as original... at least from outside. But Thanks for the advice, I still will let my technnical support friend, about the idea.

You should perform a full recap before changing the drive controller. A bad cap could cause something to work harder and overheat.
