    Hello everyone.

I'm in need of (any cheap) disk that'll allow me to play US/JP on a PAL GameCube.

For those of you who are curious, I own a PAL GameCube because it outputs RGB. That's all.

I'm guessing you're after a free loader? I think you can still buy them from the Datel store. Not sure how much you're willing to spend. The word *Cheap* can be anything less than $50.

As a cheaper alternative why not mod the console with a XenoGC, it will remove region restriction, and last I remember actually worked better than "Free loader", not to mention it supports "Swiss" allowing you to force video modes and play games from SD or External HDD :)

But you will have to solder it into your system, its very easy to do, but if your uncumftable I am sure there is some one in your area that can do it for you :), regarless it will work out cheaper to do than purchasing a freeloader.

PS Two people where selling them in the BST section: for £7 or $10

Sounds great. Is Xeno the chip to get or are there better ones (more features, etc)?

    Here's the weird thing.

I went to Codejunkies and tried to order a PAL ver. (I'm in the US) and it refused to go through.

I think I'm just going to just get the chip.

Arguably Qoob Pro is probably better as it has 4megs of internal memory, that allows you to upload programs directly to the chip itself,so you can boot "Swiss" directly instead of doing it by disc, but it uses a completely different method of patching the console and is more difficult to install, it costs about $25 from http://www.gc-forever.com/ , but for your needs I dont think there is anything wrong with getting just a XenoGC :)

PS It didnt post my links properly about.

Both sellers are pretty well known and trustworthy :)

Sent a PM to jinn ;)

So looking here, I see that it's just 6 points. Can I actually drop a dab of solder and it'll do the job?

    Should I use kynar wire?

The chip is designed to fit directly over the points and you simply bridge them (Drop a dab of solder across) but its safer just to use kynar and and install the chip like you would do any other , both works fine, just depends on which you prefer :)

Cool, I just don't want to short anything. But since I don't have any kynar wire on hand, I'll just bridge ;)

Just add a bit of solder to the board first , before installing the chip, pre-tinning the points makes your life a lot easier when installing the chip.

Its pretty easy to do, Ive done a lot of them using the bridge method, never really had any major problems :)
