It looks increasingly like my PCI card is faulty. We have replaced the EDO DRAM boards, I am in the process of purchasing a new Intel socket 7 CPU (233MMX) and if that doesn't resolve the problem then I'll either have a PS2 Tool paperweight, or I'll be looking to obtain & replace the PCI card.

So, if you are PS2 Tool owner (obviously with spare parts) or you have another piece of equipment with this particular board installed in it then please email / PM or IM me.

It used to be a fairly common card in industrial cabinets & equipment as it's actually a PC on a PCI card and used when space was an issue.

So, if you have the following card kicking around and are willing to sell or trade then please get in-touch.

    Part #: PCI-586HVE-S

I would not need the CPU or the EDO DRAM if you wished to retain them for any reason.

Wonders will never cease! I received a replacement Intel MMX 233 chip this morning. It cost £5.99 on eBay, plus P&P. I thought, what the hell I'll give it a bash. Dug out the old chip, put it to one side. Smeared the new chip with some contact stuff, popped it in and fiddled endlessly to pop the PCI board into place (a tight fit with all those additional cables).

Plugged it in, started to light it up and my god...my monitor started to crackle into life!

    HEY PRESTO!!!!!

So, once again the PS2 Tool has shocked and stunned me. A) I diagnosed the problem (that is close to a miracle folks - my next trick involves walking across Loch Ness and head butting Nessie!) and B) I don't have to hunt throughout the known universe for one of the oldest PCI cards going.

Now all I need to do is get it past the next error... more later!

Again thanks to the following people. Unclejun, OE, Pikkon and PA.
