What parts are you looking for? Someone may be able to help you out with just parts, you never know!

As you are new, you may find you'll get a better response if you can provide us with feedback. A link to your eBay profile is good, or another board that'll vouch for you. And update your profile to state where you are from. This will assist in working out postage fees - and some sellers may not wish to ship abroad. ;-)

BTW, don't forget to go and introduce yourself here! Oh, and welcome!

    Hi,

    Good points!

Parts-wise its tough to say - its been partly crushed, with some damage to the PCB.

My ebay profile (100%) is dtvwlondon: http://feedback.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=dtvwlondon

    @tubo:

Thanks but I'm working on getting a SWC dx2 working with a compact flash card, and that needs a dx2 only. (I'm also working on doing the same on a Z64, but thats another story....)

Hmm, interesting project. Have you made any progress?

Would a Z64 not be capable of using a different IDE drive - perhaps a hard drive? Likewise, can you put a DVD-ROM in a CD64 or V64?

Z64 can be used with any IDE device assuming new loading code is written for the device. For many years now an unofficial HD supporting BIOS has been available. It also supports Iomega drives other than Zip100 and IIRC Orb drives.

CD64 and V64 cannot support DVDROM without BIOS upgrades (V64 would probably need a lot more since it has hardware controllers for everything), nobody AFAIK has attempted adding support.

SWCDX2 on the other hand can support compact flash emulating an ATA hard drive assuming the drive is formatted in FAT16 and is interfaced to the unit with the same Kingbyte interface present in the official Diskdual HD/CDROM expansion. Jagasian found out that there are old parallel CF readers which use the same Kingbyte controller allowing them to be used entirely in place of the Diskdual.

BTW, I have a junk SWCdx2 that I have parted. What do you specifically need?

    Hi,

Yes the Z64 (with bios 2.18) works with all standard IDE hard drives. However, I have also discovered it will emphatically reject any CF-IDE adatper you install in its place. It surprised me completely as CF cards in IDE mode are actually electrically equivalent to IDE hard drives.

I even tested with some 'industrial' compact flash cards - these come with configuration set as "fixed disks" (i.e. you stick a normal CF card in windows XP, it pops up as "removable drive". You stick an industrial one in, and it appears as full fixed disk to XP).

However, I've traced the problem and pretty much got it licked (had to teach myself some basic assembly language in the process). It needs a new bios to work with any compact flash card. Was going to post all this at www.dextrose.com but the site died recently.

The CF for SWC dx2 as mentioned is much more straightforward so long as you have a diskdual or compatible kingbyte chipset, although I have encountered a few issues with disk formatting. (You can't copy anything to the cf/ide device from any OS that supports long file names. They will appear on the DX2 menu, but load incorrectly and crash.)

RE - dx2 parts. Closer inspection reveals more than the snes connector is damaged; the main pcb has a nasty crack across, breaking most of the tracks. Not sure my soldering is up to this one.... Which annoyingly means it could be gameover for repairing it. Whats up with yours?

My PCB is intact IIRC but I have removed the PLDs to reuse (I still have them but I may have erased them, my programmer doesn't have proper algorithms for them). The ASIC has many pins shorted by a glob of solder, it's possible that a track or two was pulled up trying to remove it as well. If you have SMD equipment and a working ASIC, it should be possible to fix.

Hmm, the PLD's on mine should be fine, as is the eeprom. The DM&P chip (mines a HW3 version) is ok but some its tracks are damagaed.

I've got access to programmers and SMD stuff at work, so could give it a go. Are you looking for much for all the parts (PLD's included)?
