I've been hunting this kit for a while and would love to get my hands on it. Anyone have it that would be willing to part with it?

To behonest the only things I don't have is the Linux Discs and the VGA adapter. Anyone have this kit and know if its possible to use a regular VGA adapter and some "backups" of the install discs?

Although some sellers have been trying their luck with $400+ BINs, prices on the kits have been finishing on ebay from $150~$250 of late - that's the place I see them most frequently. Backups won't work on regular PS2s. Can't help you directly with the 3rd party VGA adaptor question, but I can say that if you have a component capable TV, then the kit (with the addition of a $20 PS2 component out cable) will support 720p in DTV mode & is quite usable at that resolution. Some folks on the web have also been able to mod that component cable into a homebrew VGA adaptor, including one that is supposed to work on non-sync-on-green monitors -> http://skygate.bravehost.com/PS2_VGA_cable.html
