It's not bricked, I'd just like to have it preemptively installed in case of an accidental update or something. And it's a standard 3DS. If it was an XL I'd probably be willing to do it myself, but I've seen a few cases of people breaking their console in some way or another attempting this on a standard one.

are you already on 4.x or do you just want a backup in case an exploit for 5.x+ is found, i would of been more than pleased doing a xl but not 100% confident with a standard iv'e heard it can be tricky for most people, and i haven't done any work on a standard model

but if your already on 4.x though you will be able to create a nand dump with gateway exploit....that dump is perfectly fine to flash back if you ever accidentally update

Yes, but he can't flash it back without getting this mod done. Which is why he wants it.

Exactly as Bad_Ad said. I've already made a dump but it isn't much practical use as is :p Hopefully I'll never need to worry about flashing it back, but with the numerous reports of accidental updates down to an oversight with Gateway's emunand, I'd rather be safe than sorry.

yeah i understand why...just that it is pretty much avoidable the accidental updates.

im pretty sure most if not all of the "accidental" updates came from people jumping the gun and not reading the guide properly and just updating from the main menu or before entering emunand, funny how there hasn't been any lately now that everyone already knows how to do it properly now, good luck finding someone to do it, personally im pretty confident it wouldn't be too difficult, but as i haven't done one myself before i wouldn't feel do confident with my first attempt being someone else's console
