    Hello,

I would like to purchase a usb memory stick that is preloaded with the files from the following guide: www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?46169-TUTORIAL-Softmod

I will be performing the softmod with Splintercell NTSC-J, but I would prefer it if the stick would be preloaded with all of the save files and the installer.

Please confirm that the stick has been used with an actual Xbox and works before making an offer.

Please send me an offer for the price + shipping. I am located in Tokyo, Japan.

PayPal is the preferred method of payment.

    Thank you very much.

There's only two softmod exploits, PAL and NTSC. I'm not 100% sure it will work on a Japanese XBOX at all.

Today I found a 16mb psp memory stick which worked perfectly with both the Xbox and Xplorer360. I couldn't get Splintercell to recognize the NTSC save file however. I assume the file is for NTSC-U copies only.

Is it possible to make an NTSC-J version of the save exploit? Perhaps editing the current file with a hex editor? I'm surprised that a NTSC-J version of the save exploit was never made.

I honestly have no clue on that, I had a feeling the current exploits were not compatible.

There's custom exploits around, but I think the person who sells the MUs preloaded have made the exploit themself as it runs through DOA3 (I think).

Hex if you have more info on the DOA3 I can try it at home. I have a NTSC-J Xbox and DOA3 and know how to do a softmod. I just purchased Splinter Cell Asian Version and Mechassualt Asian version to see if I could exploit through them using the NTSC files.

Thank you very much for replying. Do you know where I can contact the person who made the custom exploit? I have a copy of Dead or Alive 3, so I should be all set.

Check YJ! Should be there somewhere. :)

I have no info at all, not sure how the exploit works, or how the seller has done this. Only way would be to buy a MU from him, which I've wanted to do for sometime.

Yahoo Japan Auctions? I'm currently searching. I'll let you know if I find the seller.

    Edit: Found the seller:

I will make an order tonight and I will do an update post once I've received the exploits.

Thank you so much for your help.

Hopefully they are easy to use. If it was just save data the icons wouldn't be changed so they may just be exploits :) Let us know!

Apparently the only way to softmod a japanese Xbox is by using the Asia release of Mechassault (機甲先鋒). The auctions linked by the OP mention just that: the memory card offered comes with the required save file preloaded. The other titles in the item description (GTASA, BMX XXX, DOA3, DOAX) refer to game-specific exploits or hacked savestates (e.g. all fighters unlocked, alternative costumes).

So you still need a copy of Mechassault (ASIA) to run the exploit.

See here for reference on game + exploit: http://aucview.aucfan.com/yahoo/f119909139/

Also check out the WTS thread right here: http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?53133 :)

I didn't notice there was a thread on this matter! Gosh, I was flooded with purchase on those Xbox Disc purchase!

Some facts, on NTSC-J Xbox system. few years back I got a couple of NTSC-J Xboxes (local Singapore) sets, I can confirm that the Splinter Cell Asian version works with the NTSC save exploit. (3 Xbox was softmodded successfully. I would say it wasn't well documented on soft modding NTSC-J Xbox using those exploit game. But since I have those games lying around the room, I tried and vola! Works great. I have then sold away my Xboxes system and keep only certain games in my xbox library for memory sake. I did recall that for the mechassult exploit seems to run too, but then again I only tried it onces and that was years back.

Thank you for your reply and for confirming that the Asian version of Splinter Cell worked.

Unfortunately there is little documentation on softmodding an NTSC-J Xbox.

After I test Mechassault, I will let everyone know how it went.

The Japanese release dates for the exploitable games were much later than the rest of the world.

Over an entire year between the North American and Japanese launch. I assume Microsoft was aware of the exploits and made sure the Japanese version was patched.

To my knowledge, 007 Agent Under Fire was not released in Japan.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any information on the Asian release dates. If anyone knows, please share.

Found this Microsoft Taiwan press release dated Nov. 27, 2002. It mentions Mechassault but it looks like an event is being announced rather than a release info. I guess we need someone who can read Traditional Chinese...
