I'm looking to buy arround 8 plain white VMU's. They are quite cheap on playasia still, 8 VMU's will set me back 50 euros (hard for a student who is trying to make it's way to Berlin).

I remember seing on a Retrocore show, those japanese stores with second hand piled up VMUs, they looked cheap enough :)

So, here it goes. I'm looking for White VMUs with lid, not to banged up, for an art instalation.

I'm sorry if this is a waste of time for most of you that consider this hardware to be as abundant as rocks and not worth the trouble. In Portugal they are near impossible to get if not for the internet.

    Thank you.

I would try Pawn Shops if you have some near you in a large city. I live in a small town 22miles south of the capital of my state. Last time I was up there I went to a pawn shop that had baskets of VMUs at like 1$ a pop. Most didnt have lids but they had all the colors and most were ok or better shape.

I dont head up there to ofton but if I do I will pick some up.

Thanks, but rarer than vmus are Pawn Shops in Portugal. And even in those I've seen them go for 5 euros, which is crazy talk. And they have to have lids...

Fish, you want plain white ones with the caps? Or does the color matter? I ask because there was an outfit that made replacement VMU shells in custom colors that might suit your needs. The only problem is that they wouldn't have the electronic innards, but if you're looking to make art out of it that might not matter.

There was a post around here back in 2004, before my time:

    http://www.assemblergames.com/forums/showthread.php?t=312

I just went and checked some of my old bookmarks, and it looks like most of the places that sold VMU replacement cases don't have them in stock any more. But however you slice it, if the case will work for you then buying some of those would most likely be cheaper than a whole VMU.

Color does matter, white (not that I'm racist:icon_bigg ), and I need the VMU whole, cause i'll be displaying animations in them and custum code.

    Thank anyway for the tip.
