[WTB] Wii Dev/Test Kit

I hear some review code wont run on older kits with old firmware. So you might want to check into that before you take the plunge.

Thanks for the tip. I wonder if your able to update the firmware on older hardware if you have the files. Or is it that older hardware will just not update to newer software/firmware versions.

I heard the company who had the issue had to send it back to Nintendo to get it upgraded, if someone could confirm that this problem exists it would be great to know more information about it.

 

That sounds somewhat shitty..

 

FYI It was IGN, they mentioned it on their podcast in relation to a Resident Evil 4 preview build, so its a double whammy for me ;D

 

Any idea what models/versions aren't upgradable? Assuming I find someone to buy from, I'd like to know if it's the older model or a newer model. That does suck though.

Nah, this sounds just hilarous...possible the upgraded consoles had some assemblation flaws?

Some good news to come out of this, apparently IGN is having a Nintendo rep come in and upgrade the kit on site. So theres the hope that its just a disc based upgrade. It would at least make things a lot easier.

 

I thought SW updated could be made via the VC?

 

IGN specifically stated that it could not be done online like a normal Wii.

 

This could mean that the SW updates arent available for download..not that they have to be made by Nintendo exclusively..probably the Big N is trying to hide its devkit firmware/software..knowing theyr policy it sounds possible..

 

They don't want people like us "stealin'" their Wiis for our selfish perusing now! X3
