Hey there guys lately i have been in a old online gaming mood and i have been having fun playing online on the dreamcast and such after knowing about the sega Xband and the Saturn net link i just thought it should be time to get one of those, so as the title says i want to buy a Sega Genesis (I really hate calling the Mega Drive that XD) Xband and a Saturn NetLink, if anyone has any one of these and its willing to sell awesome, i dont need then to be in Box but it all depends on the price, just awswer the post or PM me and also please give me Shipping Prices as most likely that will be where the ball drops in terms of price. Im From Portugal, Europe.

Thank you in advance and cheers to you all :)

Is there a way to still use an Xband cartridge? I thought there was a master servre or some such that it had to talk to to match you up with other players, or could you just dial a friend directly?

The XBand servers are required and have been shut down for quite some time. I remember all of the local gaming stores reducing the price of unsold XBand carts to as little as $1 when the service went down.

Just curious, maybe a bit off topic, but has there been any community reverse engineering of the xband protocol? I've often pondered about other technologies such as Sega Channel, but emulating that would be quite impractical considering you would need a lot of gear to properly convert ethernet to something the internal cable modem could understand, let alone if it's docsis compliant at all.

But a phone modem would be much easier.

And to go back on topic, there are quite a few genesis XBands cheap on fleabay, even new in box. Same goes for the saturn netlink.
