    Hi,

I'm currently looking for two original Xeno GC chips (V.2.0) ideally and no clones. I'm located in the UK

All you're going to find are clones. Only time I've had a bad clone was when the board was obviously toasted at the factory.

They are about $5 including shipping from China.

Also, why do you want v2? it only adds a menu for multi game discs, which you can do with homebrew better and works on all chips (and not just locked to PAL!)

Regarding clones: the xeno is a chip on a pcb with a couple of leds. There is nothing to them and the source code for the original chips was released a clone will be identical to the official ones anyway.

All in all, kinda pointless request

How is it pointless? I prefer to buy originals, yet would only settle for clones, as a last resort and I was not aware of the Xeno source code that was released until now. I requested the V2, as I have heard reports of multi-disc games like MGS TS not working correctly when swapping to disc 2.

You are Confusing multi disc games and multi game discs.

V2 allows you to have more than 1 game on a disc, as it as a menu built in. Multi disc games work on both just fine, also you can put 2 games on 1 disc using homebrew menu that works on all chips.

Basically, aiming to get a v2 is pointless as there is no benefit. Although if the chip you get isn't v2, you could always reflash it. Pretty sure mine are v2 anyway, but there is no point me confirming it for the above reasons.

for what it's worth I have upgraded my xenoGC1.0 to 2.0 ... it can be done if you can run dols on your gc and solder a temporary switch on the chip:

The clones are virtually identical to the originals. Short of being told it's a clone I'd never have guessed the XenoGCs next to me were clones. The parts used are still in production so they're not some hack job by some Chinese guy who faked the text on the chip. You won't be getting an original unless someone lies to you or charges you a tidy sum.

Only if someone is willing to pay a tidy sum for an original XenoGC. Most people are happy with clones.

Exactly, hence why I avoid any type of clone due to some cheap ass shit they use to make a fast buck. I know production stopped some years ago and would not expect an original unless people had old stock, yet as long as the Xeno functions correctly, I dont mind one, clone that is, if anyone is selling them.

I've seen this with PS2 modchip clones that are missing features or are poorly implemented but the Xeno clones are really good. XBox modchip clones aren't half bad either but if you really wanted you could just program a BIOS to an EPROM and wire it into the mobo directly.
