    WTB: PAL VCR

    I'm looking for a working PAL VCR for around $20-$30 so I can watch a PAL VHS tape I got recently, if anyone has one that they'd be willing to part with could you let me know thanks.

    It's a longshot, but maybe there's players that can be "region modded"? I have no idea if they actually use different hardware for PAL/NTSC (apart from the PSU), but if they don't there might be a chance that some devices can be converted by pulling certain pins low/high instead of high/low, maybe switch out a crystal, you know where I'm going with this... Thing is, afaict those machines were phased out before hardware modding guides appeared on the net so you'd probably have to look into that yourself.

    My brother ran into the opposite problem (NTSC tape, PAL country) once, when I see him on the Easter weekend I'll let you know how he got around that (if you haven't solved it yourself by then).

    There are multiformat players out there. Quite expensive results at the moment on ebay.com but you might get lucky somewhere else. Search terms "vcr pal ntsc" obviously.
