Yes, seriously. I went into the bathroom to take a piss before school started. I walk into the stall and shut the stall door. As I go to put my backpack down, I see THIS on the door: http://img245.imageshack.us/img245/6337/0117080943yr9.jpg My reaction was a cross between a genuine WTF moment and pissing myself because I'm laughing so hard. Got a few weird looks for that one when I came out of the stall. But anyway, I had to take a picture of it.
That site isn't as underground as it used to be. I'm starting to see instances of it outside the internet as well.
Oh, and when I say "Outside the Internet", I mean, some Video Games are referencing them. One of the people who translated Phoenix Wright and The Swordcraft story games put 4chan memes in there. Probably because they also frequent the site, as the games are heavily....Japanese, I guess. "In West Clownadelphia, born and Raised...." On of them focuses on the SPARTAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA meme but I forgot which game it was. And I THINK one of the Final Fantasy remakes had a Somethingawful reference in them as well.
Its a mob mentality type of thing. That place proves Godwins law constantly. Just mention the word "Atlus" on /v/ and see what happens.
To OP: Wow. I hate vandalism and all, but I really would've liked for the people at my old high school to have been more Internet literate. (MySpace and Youtube do not count.)
Uh... *wondering if being internet litterate is a good thing when you see things such as 4 chan* Uh. *wondering if being internet litterate is a good thing at all *
I know exactly what you mean. I don't necessarily mean that everyone should know about mudklops or pedro bear, but I figure with the way this generation (and more specifically, people my age) is supposed to embrace the Internet and tech in general, I expect much more for the status quo.
I know what you mean, too. Like, kids today are suposed to know technology and internet, know how to use them as efficient tools and stuff, but all they do is actually using more and more user-friendly applications and stuff, driving them away from control and knowledge; but i mean - in a virtuality versus reality way - does knowing internet and computers something better than, for exemple, knowing music theories, finding your inner-self, be a better person, reading philosophy books and stuff? I'm all for knowledge, but some knowledge are just more essential and ''true'' than others.
