This is just a rant but i need to get this off of my chest WTF is up with all the pre-orders? Why do people stand in line and pay money to reserve a console or game that they havent even seen before? And what is wrong with waiting a few weeks if the certain item has sold out? Its not like we dont have a room full of shit to keep us entertained till the next plaything has arrived has it. F**k the pre-order hype machine!
Well, in the case of the 360, the wait was more like several months, not weeks. People have learned their lesson (though I could care less about the PS3 and Wii, and subsequently have no desire to pre-order).
Just look at it like this for some people. Buy a pre-order, then resell for 1000% profit, or be the 1st to get a PS3 on the launch date, then resell it on ebay for a 1000% profit. It's like the movie "Jingle All the Way" with Arnold Schwarzenegger. When supply is low, demand is quite high; people would do anything to please a loved one, child (or themselves) for a PS3, especially around Christmas time. It's an investment baby! :rambo:
It is kind of irritating, though. Since when did videogaming become a financial investment? Jesus, I just want to play the damn thing. Soon people will be taking out loans for videogame systems (if they aren't already).
Honestly what cracks me up is they use gamestop pre orders to tell how a system will sell. The real winner will be shown on their respective launch dates, cause I do know stores like walmart, target, and best buy tend to get more stock usually.
I have to agree with you n-y-n. It's insanity. What ever happened to just getting to the store fairly early to see if you can get one? Or checking back in the following weeks. It seems that people are addicted and don't have a big enough stash at home. I certainly wouldn't mind having a PS3, provided I don't have to pay for it. I do want the Nintendo Wii though. But I didn't preorder. I'm not gonna camp out just to get the damn thing alittle sooner (in theory). I highly doubt there will be some huge sell out before I get to a store. But even if I'm wrong, I'm capable of waiting. I already spent 400 bucks on a Xbox 360 which entertains me. Oh ya and I bought that sometime after E3, not at launch when they didn't exist on store shelves.
