    Hello Everyone,

I'm tidying up my gaming collection by selling-off a ton of extras that I've amassed over the years. These include brand new consoles and arcade items all the way down to old school game boxes and loose carts.

I live in a non-smoking environment and all items are in 100% working condition.

If you have any questions regarding any of the items below, then please feel free to ask. If it is a concern or correction, then I would prefer a PM.

Please read below for my selling and buying rules regarding this thread.

    ------------------------
    S&H Costs & Ethics
    ------------------------
    • All items will have delivery confirmation.
    • I ship internationally.
    • All shipping prices are for N. America only. For all other buyers, PM me with your country and the items that you are interested in so that I can give you an 'estimate.' Until I get to the post office and they actually weigh all of your items and measure the shipping box, I cannot know the exact cost for international buyers.
    • All shipments in N. America above $50 will have FREE insurance. For buyers outside of N. America, if you would like insurance, then please let me know when we reach the stage of determining final costs.
    • I package items for safe shipping.
    • All non-handheld consoles are a flat rate of $16. This makes it easier for me than having to go through the hours long process of calculating twenty consoles for each potential state. Please see below for shipping discounts on consoles.
    • All handheld consoles are a flat rate of $7. Please see below for shipping discounts on handheld consoles.
    • All games and books are a flat rate of $5. Please see below for shipping discounts on games and books.
    • All accessories and promos will have a shipping cost beside their asking price.
    • There are a very few amount of common sense exceptions to this pricing. For example, CPS2 motherboards, which are games the size of consoles. Such items will have their shipping cost listed beside their asking price.
    • I accept pickups. In fact, I endorse them! It saves you shipping costs and me a drive to the post office. If you are interested in picking up your items, then please let me know when we are working out the final costs.
    Shipping Discounts:
    • After the first console, shipping for each additional one will only be half-price ($8).
    • After the first book, shipping for each additional one will only be $2.
    • After the first game or handheld console, shipping for each additional one will only be $1.
    -----------------------
    Payment Methods
    -----------------------
    • I accept Money Orders and Paypal. I do not accept anything else.
    • I ship items after I have received payment.
    • I prefer Money Orders so that Paypal doesn't rape me with their fees, esp. on large payments. If you are not in urgency to receive your items, then I would be very grateful if you could send me a Money Order instead.
    --------------
    Item Prices
    --------------

Nearly all of the asking prices for the items listed below are the result of averaging out the lowest eBay and/or Yahoo prices. I am not a pricing expert, but I have taken the time to look each item here. Thus, if you feel that some of the asking prices are inaccurate, then I welcome price corrections as long as there is support to back it up. Such support allows me to have references for the future. Some of the items are hard to receive accurate pricing on. In such cases, the asking price is given in a ballpark range.

    ----------
    Trading
    ----------

I am open to trading for the following items:
    • Go/Igo/Weiqi/Baduk books (any language)
    Now...On to the items!

7xLot of NIB Sealed SFC Games

As SFC games were never sealed and that most second hand game shop in Japan shrink wrap games how could you prove the games are new?

This is incorrect and a contradiction. I will deal only with the incorrect part. Nearly all SFC games were never factory sealed, but many have been sealed. Sealing can be for many reasons, one of which included preservation of contents. This is why these were sealed. I could open them for picture purposes upon request and the value of them would only decrease by the fact that they would have to be sealed again [to increase preservation], and that the box or contents could be put at additional damage (although the latter is highly unlikely).

He clearly means that as you state nearly all SFC games were never factory sealed so any seal that is created after that could well be from a used game. So theres very little to prove the games are new. The so called "conservation" seals you speak about do nothing to add value to the games as they arent a factory seal.

It's not incorrect and not a contradiction.

Not all shops (in Japan) would have sealed new games, most would have used anti theft boxes.

The point I am making is that a lot of second hand games in Japan are sold sealed mainly as with low value games it's easier just to whack a sticker on it. This tends to happen with all games. Sofmap normally use the type of wrapping you have on your SFC cartridges for their second hand games.

People tend to think (esp on Ebay) ah it's completely sealed, it must be new, rather then in the vast majority of cases that it's in fact a second hand game that's been sealed.

Unsealed games are hard to prove as new, you can say ultra mint (if you can show the contents) although the only way to see if a cartridge is new is to check the edge connector as it's easy enough to see if the game has been plugged into a machine (as it will scratch the traces)

That's funny, removing a non factory seal would decrease the value of a game. Most shops seal games, mainly to stop people from stealing the contents or from wearing out the box even more.

So having common shrink wrap on a game, does not in anyway prove it's new or increase the value of the game.

In fact as Shrink wrap is generally a poor choice for preservation as you put it, unless of course you are going to state you use acid free, archival wrap...

The two bolded parts clearly contradict each other. Since it seems that there is trouble understanding how they contradict each other, I will elaborate how it is that they do.

It is stated that SFC games were never sealed, and then immediately after it is stated that [SFC] games are shrink wrapped in game shops. Shrink wrapping is a type of sealing. Therefore, to say that most second hand game shop [sic] in Japan shrink wrap games is to say that SFC are sealed. This is in disagreement with the statement that SFC games were never sealed. This type of disagreement is a contradiction, and this type of belief about the sealing of SFC games is incorrect.

How could this statement be fixed?

It could be fixed by doing two things:
    1) Clarifying its terms
    2) Using accurate descriptive terms to prevent contradiction of key words

Example: As most SFCgames were never factory sealed, and as most second hand game shops in Japan shrink wrap games, then how could you prove the games are new?

I hope that this resolves some of the difficulties that one might have had in understanding the ideas that were being presented earlier.

Now, irregardless of the contradicting and incorrect nature of the original question, the end-question of proving the condition of games has also already been addressed in the initial response. The spirit of the answer being that there are many common sense and clear ways of checking, and that some may be less desireable than others.

There seems to be a second argument wanting to arise regarding the return on investment. That:
If a feature is added to an item, and
If the feature aesthetically or functionally improves the item's condition,
Then the item's value should be increased.

Holding our tongues for the moment...I would prefer that such conversations and arguments be done out of this thread. Asking questions about certain items that are being sold is great! As I stated at the beginning of this thread , "If you have any questions regarding any of the items below, then please feel free to ask. If it is a concern or correction, then I would prefer a PM." My answers to people's questions will neccessarily envoke my selling idealogy and beliefs. This thread is not about my selling idealogy and beliefs. If someone wishs to address this aspect after I have answered their questions about the items, then this is a 'concern or correction' and should be diverted to PM. If one does not like the idealogy around certain items, then simply do not purchase them. However, do not bog down this thread with items that have been specifically asked to be addressed elsewhere.

Regarding the prices of the SFC games, I did not include the fact that they are sealed into the cost of those items.

As stated at the beginning of this thread, I'm basically doing Spring cleaning. Thus, my main goal isn't to squeeze out as many pennies as I can, but to clear out some space and simplify the collection while not cutting any significant loss. This is why, as stated once again, these prices reflect their respective low-end.
