Up for sale is a well loved PSP tool.

    It is 100% functional.
The tower is dirty and has seen better days.
The PSP itself is in fine shape.

UMD drive closes on its own now.

    $175 $225 250 $300 + shipping via UPS in the USA.
    Intl please ask.
Will also trade for Gamecube or Wii stuff. Looking for NR discs and RVT-R discs.

The metal latch inside is bent. Open it, look for the latch and straighten it with suitably shaped paperclip.

Sometimes this is also due to a misalignment of the UMD trap door when opening/swapping the UMD drive inside the unit (happened to me once, it's very easy to fix, just reopen the unit and re-seat the drive properly so the cover is aligned.

just out there spongeonfire is selling a psp development tool with no umd problems for 242.49 shipped on ebay you may want to match prices with his link down below sure that would help with sales 300 is a bit steep especially with spongeonfire now being known on here to sell them for a reasonable price and giving assembler members discounts

His seem to be untested, while this has been linked with an sdk and fully tested.

Anyway, I'll drop it to 250 shipped to keep it competitive.

I bought a good amount of stuff from sponge nothing I bought from him didn't work as for sdk they ain't that hard to get ahold of these days.

PS make sure you do as the previous people above said and fix the umd drive so when you ship it to someone it closes and shuts and so nothing can happen by chance

    GLWS :)

    Okay.

    UMD drive is fixed.

Price dropped to $225 w/ free shipping because of undesirable firmware.

Open to any offers and trades.

It can be but the problem is finding said firmware. The testing tool ofw is often more available than the Dev tool ofw.

That's the hardware tool firmware (CP firmware), this is not the actual psp board's firmware. You may only find what it is by booting the unit (using the sdk)
If the unit does not boot on its own you can already assume it is lower than 5.00
You may want to try to update the CP firmware to 2.6.0 so you can get to boot the unit in system software mode without a kbooti (assuming the firmware on the unit is 2.60+)

My guess is the CP has been reset (pressing holding the sys init button while pressing the power button) downgrading it back to 1.00.
The CP is not the PSP hardware which is (almost) independent.

Obviously units can be updated and operated assuming you hard access to the relevant update and sdks.
I always assume it is the responsibility of the buyer to make sure he has all the software at his disposal to operate a unit upon acquisition, the software being copyrighted we can't assume the seller would just provide a link to something subject to a nondisclosure agreement and intellectual property laws.
A licensee will have no trouble accessing the devnet to download the relevant software.
