I have a x2.6 that I got that has a bad flash on it and I need a programmer for it. I would prefer to trade something for it but I will buy it also if you do not want to trade. I really would like to keep it for the future but really need it even if it is only to borrow.

Since you have your xboxes open just hot-swap with another xbox that uses an X2/X3: boot with the working one to a flashing application, remove the working mod and place the X2 while the machine is still on. Then proceed with the app flashing and it will work. Just be careful with the pin alignment on the header , don't plug the X2 wrong

When I hot swap do I have to do it quickly or does that not matter? That means I have to swap the D0 wire over also unless I solder 2 D0 wires to the motherboard. What is the best flash program to use for this? I use flashbios 3.03 unauthorised with the built in eeprom flashing.

But I still want the programmer for my collection also. So please if anyone wants to trade or sell I am still looking.

you know , I didn't know about the D0 either... so I just connected a D0 wire to both xecuters. I booted with X3 the HeXeN disk and then just swapped the modchips, no hurry at all.. Then I went to TSOP/ModChip flashing and flashed X2 5035 to the bricked X2 and that fixed it....

Sweet! That is easy to do! Sounds fool proof! I was gonna do it with another x2.6 that I have. But I have the X3 installed already so that will be easier. I thought maybe hexen would not like that fact that the chip I am trying to flash is not the same version that it was booted with. But since you have done it already with the X3 count me in!

yeah it works, just change the chip on the main HeXeN menu and not in the flash application... boot dvd, change menu , start flash app :)

Do you think it work with the hexen that runs off the hard drive? Or do I have to use the disk?

I cant this trick to work on either one of the 2 x2.6's that I have. One says flash not writeable and the other says unknown flash type. This is driving me crazy!

I sent a PM to APE but I have not heard back yet.

^ you are also connecting the switches pcb right? without the switches I believe that the X2 defaults to write-protect

I have still had no luck at all with the hot swap. I have tried over and over with the same results. I tried 3 different motherboards maybe it is the fact that I am using a X3 to boot with?
