Anyone played this yet? Definitely not my cup of tea but it turns out that an old friend from high school married a guy that became one of their (Gearbox) Art Director. After checking their page, seems they did the ports of Half Life to other systems. Will be nice to have something to talk about. I will probably meet him next month when I go home, so I figured I might as well give it a whirl, but Amazon is taking their sweet ass time with it. :/
Yeah, Brother in Arms is a really neat game. Great online Live. By the way Gajin, I got another Phantasy Star Online Network Trial, Buy it Now, for $8.00 on eBay. Can't beat that
Indeed. FPS are meant for playing with keyboard + mouse. Of course if the game is only in consoles you have to go for controllers (or use USB keyboard and USB mouse if compatible)
Yeah, I bought the PC version. The only other option is Xbox, but since mine's a rigged Japanese one, I couldn't play online. Glad to hear it that it's good. Nice find, PS. Those things don't grow on trees. Did you get the DC one? There's a GC one floating around too, which I've yet to nab. I got another Phantasy Star Online Memorial & Drama CD, but it was definitely not $8.
Yeah, it was the Dreamcast version. Here is a link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=8180586528&rd=1&sspagename=STRK:MEWN:IT&rd=1
I hate BIA, it plays terrible imo, so bad that I took it back for a refund... ...Waited a long time for it to show, really gutted that it sux. ...Went straight back to playing COD from the beginning AGAIN!!!!
I'm not really fond of single player FPSeses myself. Like RPGs, I can't commit myslef to long games too much. Though CoD: UO is pretty bitchin' online though.
FPS WWII games are the fad now, so developers will keep pumpin them out. take it from someone who has been in a war, it isnt that fun. come tp think of it everyone wants more and more realism, furk join up, that should be real enough for ya, me ill stick to the world of make believe. :}
Don't know if you will agree, but the best WW2 Online FPS is Day of Defeat. Plays amazing, even tough is old. But expect DoD: Source soon, using all capabilities of the Source engine. For me, playing DoD since beta 1.0, it's amazing how the game evolved on the old HL engine. I see a bright future for DoD in Source if they don't screw up the gameplay.
WWII games in general are not my thing. I'm only buying it due to the friend connection. I will say though, this isn't really an FPS per say. There's some strategy involved, and the fact that you don't have cross-hairs, and start off with just a pea shooter is a nice change from blowing the tits off of everything.
...You can enable / disable crosshairs at will, it only starts without them if you don't enable them ! ...And errrrrmmm you start off with your usual WWII weapons, Tommy guns, MP40's, etc, not exactly pea shooters, one shot from either weapon still splits human flesh wide open, usually resulting in severe pain or death. ...As for strategy, well it bored me shitless within 5 minutes, which is a shame 'cos WWII, FPS's, happen to be my forte. ...The fact that you have a friend that worked on it though is cool because it does have one redeeming feature, the historical facts / extra's. ...It's loaded with stacks of archive info and facts, which can only help to educate the uneducated. ...For this alone I applaud it. ...In fact they should of dropped the game and just released the extras imo :smt045
