Well, my re-designed website has been up for a little over a month. I'm still updating it and I'm not sure if I 100% like the layout. Anyhow, feel free to visit it and send me comments. The hardest part will be going through my thousands of games and making previews. If anyone wants to help make screenshots, please feel free to help. Otherwise it will take me a long time to do them myself. Please keep the negative comments to a minimum. My ego is very fragile and sometimes I wonder why I'm even doing this. www.PlayStationMuseum.Org Please understand that I am still updating most of the site. I will be adding more faqs and historical accounts of the PlayStation.
Very Nice site, i must say, I like what your doing with it, desgn looks good...maybe a little more color? anyways, great site Ryan
Thanks for the comments. I'll probably add more color soon. I want it to look tasteful but I suck at website design.
Thanks. I'll probably be seeking help out with screenshots, cover scans, and even magazine ad scans in the days to come. My scanner is doing a piss poor job and I'm not sure if it's the software or the scanner itself (Lexmark brand). I'm getting lines in the scan. Look at the poor quality of the DTL-H500 in the Development Hardware section to get an idea.
I can help with Magazine "Scans" (well pictures of the magazines) and some other stuff. Reviews maybe? By the way, are you getting help of the guys from Digital Press (Dangerboy, Kevincure and Papastu) ? They know a lot about the PlayStation.
Hey, would someone mind helping me with something easy? Go to the website and look at Blade Arts. It's in the Japanese Games section in Software. Tell me if I have enough basic content (other than missing a description and a review). I need to settle on standard information that each game preview should contain. (For Japanese games I put a playability rating. This is an indicator of how playable a game is if the person cannot read Japanese like me.) (For European games I may put a GameShark code that would convert the PAL game into NTSC mode.) Currently I'm not getting help from anyone else in DP. I have helped Kevincure with his PSX Guide and my website is mentioned in the back of the book.
Thanks! It's actually a scan from a collectors music CD. I have a T-Shirt with that logo as well. It was during the time Sony was promoting "U R NOT e". I may be making some PlayStation Museum T-Shirts, magnets, and mousepads with that logo once I find time.
Looking in your psygnosis section you've got formula one and f1 ce (f1 '97 over here I believe), these weren't developed by psygnosis, but by bizarre creations (of PGR and MSR fame), and published by psygnosis. I thought that f1 '98 was done by someone else (visual concepts?), and again published under the psygnosis brand (who were bought by Sony as well iirc)
You could add rarity rating. Plus i think it would be better to have game screens separately, instead of a animated gif. Just a suggestion. Yeah i saw they mentioned the website. I also helped them a little. My name is also there (Rafael). :icon_bigg
wow, that's a really big project. there exists so much games for the PlayStation. I could supply some images of peripherials and hardware. I have screenshots, too. And I have savegames (all played by myself). I could make some screenshots for you. I have a Blaze Xplorer Cheatcart and I it can be used to make real dumps of the video ram ^^
I'm guessing you already have the following book: 10th Anniversay PlayStation & PlayStation2 All Soft Catalogue Special SaveData Collection from dengeki Just thought I would mention it in case you missed it. That is what I currently use for all my Playstation resource needs. It might save you time getting all the info for some of the less well known japanese games. I think it has info for every released psone game in there, except for the new psone books games. It is a really nice book and comes very much recommended. As for the site, very nice - but you have one hell of a job on your hands! Too much information to gather!
That spotlight was one of my early attempts to see how I would like it. I want to do a spotlight on some programmers and magazine editors. Anyhow... Those games came directly from a promotional Psygnosis CD. I would assume it was true but I took Psygnosis' word for it. But yes, I should say 'published' instead of developed because Haiku studios was developing Elric for Psygnosis.
Rarity I would need help with. As far as the screenshots, I used to have separate screens but then I ran across a retro-Atari ST site that had animated gifs. I sort of like the gifs, but I notice now that the color degrades a bit for gifs. What do other people think? Gifs or many screenshots?
That books looks awesome. Unfortunately I can't read Japanese. I wish I could see what it looks like (anyone have a scan of a page?). Yes, it will be a tough job. My goal isn't to preview every single Japanese game, just whatever is in my collection (which is a ton). I hope that I have all the playable Japanese games, but I'm sure there's a few straglers that I missed.
Well, I don't think you need Japanese to get some useful stuff out of it. It has covers, genres, publishers and release dates that can be understood readily enough. Plus - given you probably know almost no kanji it could be useful to "name" games or match up names to covers. Also it is a beautiful collection of sony adverts and playstation shop/tv promotions. Anyway, leaving out most japanese games is probably the best way to go. It probably halves your workload! Keep up the good job. (BTW I prefer screen shots - gives you time to take in the info)
I might get the book anyhow now. Can you show me an example of how you would like to see the screenshots? Do I just put them 2X2? (For a total of 4 screenshots?) It's still early in the process that I could stop the gifs. (Although I would have to go back and re-capture my protos) P.S. Thanks for the comments Wolverine! EDIT: Can someone look at Baldur's Gate in my Unreleased games section and see if that's how you would like to see previewed games? I put the screenshots separate and not in a gif. I also added some color (albeit light grey). ty.
Nice site, I think you should start a user photo gallery, where people can post photos of their collections.
