Well MS went into this with the idea that whatever chips they come out with they have the right to outsource production to anyone... Hence they can make the chips with anyone they wish. This will produce competition for contracts and mean a lower price for MS in the end.
For this generation, they came in second. Not exactly bad considering they're the newcomer to the console market.
