X360s modchip on the way...

    I dont know if this should be in the developers forum (since it's mostly about homebrew).

    From gizmodo:

    Team Xecuter is getting fantastically close to making a modchip of the plug-n-play variety that would permit the drive to use both the hacked and normal firmware. There's still some bugs to work out, namely that the firmware chip is connected to the Xbox 360 with nigh impossible to remove epoxy, thereby hindering the plug-n-play model

    Isn't this about the hacked firmware which simply ignores media checks, not running unencrypted images. So basically used for nothing but piracy...

    Not really, you dont need a modchip (nor any extra hardware) for that, and the hack only lets you run pirated games but no homebrew.

    Its not a modchip. Ive said it before and ill say it again. Dont blind copy articles from sites and just post it here. The least you could do is read the thing.

    All this chip does is let you switch between the hacked firmware and the original one. Nothing else.

    I just want someone to develope a boot disc for playing imports. Senko no Ronde is so close... :-(

    Indeed. That and Tenchu 360 (which I hope is still planned for release--no news at E3...)
