I'm trying to connect an X68000 PRO to an Commodore 1084 monitor (9 pin version). It works fine on boot on a VGA monitor.

I've connected, and verified the color connections, HSYNC, VSYNC and grounds. The monitor shows nothing. I can connect the HSYNC line to ground, and see something, but it's badly synched. I also have the same problem with PlayChoice 10 single monitor board.

Do I need to invert the sync signals? If so, what's the easiest way to do this?

Well, I know nothing of the x68000, but I can tell you that Playchoice 10 won't work because its RGB is inverted.
